I guess people haven't been reading it...

The Joker got his face cut off in Detective #1, and hasn't appeared in a comic since. Nightwign was dressed up like him, but other there hasn't been any word from him. As a big Joker fan, I was disappointed, but am happy to hear he will be making his return soon.
Before it can be filmed, drawn, acted or programed, it must be written.

Really? Tyler asked some advice and no one helps him? Foreshame! Well Tyler, I'll help you out IF you renounce your nitpicky hatred for the man of steel unless the new comic con footage blew you away with Goyer's and Nolan's awesome writing!!!

But now then, onto what I've read.
-the dark knight returns, I think everyone has read this and tell you it rocks.... Cept for smelly nick. :P

-Batman Year One, originally this was going to be begins but it never happened.

-The Dark Knight Strikes Again, if you view it how I'm told it's suppose to be a parody/satire on comics today then you may like it along with all star batman and robins as long as it view it like that.

-Batman: Red Rain/Batman: Vampires, it's an elseworld story with Batman alone dealing with Vampires. It's really good and I say check it out.

-Batman Beyond: now I this I think is in two or three volumes right now, one being hush and the other I believe is the industrial revolution but yeah I read the first one and I liked it and it's a great continuation of the original show, :huge:

And now for some various others I haven't read but you may like:
-Batman under the red hood,if you like the movie you may like it.

-Batman: Black and white, an anthology series with batman that has various writers and artists some of those are Dennis O' Neil, Paul Dini, and Bruce Timm

-Batman: Birth of the demon, this one I've been meaning to read as it collects the first appearance of my favorite Batman Villain Ra's Al Ghul.

-The various anthology series collecting various batman villain stories, such as Batman vs Two face, Joker: Greatest stories ever told, and this scarecrow one. There's probably a lot more of them, so go find them and check them out.

And IGN should help you out(for once) with their list of titles that might help you out:
http://comics.ign.com/articles/624/624619p1.html

One story I'm interested in reading is speeding bullets, mainly because it's what if Superman's ship landed in Gotham and the Wayne's found him.

Oh and check out some of the new 52 books too and earth one, as I'm told they're good too.

Some other trades/collections involving the Dark Knight that I'd recommend would be:

-BATMAN:THE WRATH , written by Mike Barr & Tony Bedard, with art provided by Micheal Golden & Rag Morales. Before Prometheus, there was the WRATH. On the night Bruce Wayne's parents were gunned down by Joe Chill, another young man, the son of two corrupt cops. In the course of a robbery, witnessed his mom and dad killed in a shhotout with a rookie officer named James Gordon. The scarred young man dedicated his life to stopping the forces of law and order. Becoming as well trained, and adept as the Batman. Becoming both a theif and an assassin specializing in taking contracts on law enforcement.

-BATMAN:YEAR TWO, written by Mike Barr, with art by Alan Davis, and Todd MacFarlane. Detailing the second year of Batman's career of crimefighting, the Dark Knight deals with the bloody return of his vigilante predecessor, the REAPER. Willing to kill anyone who gets in his way, mobsters, Batman, and cops alike. Batman has his hindquarters handed to him in the first encounter with the Reaper, forcing him to form an alliance with the mob against the Reaper. The mob assigns their man to assist Batman, a man named Joe Chill.

-Paul Kirk:MANHUNTER, written by Archie Goodwin, and art by Walt Simonson. While not exclusively a Batman story, he does play a part in the tale's cinematic climax. Paul Kirk, Golden Age mystery-man, the Manhunter, and behind the lines assassin in the Second World War. Ends up afterwards being nearly killed pursueing his old passion in Africa of big game hunting when a maddened bull elephant attacks him. He is found by a gathering of scientists known as the Council. On top of saving Kirk's life, one of the Council's Inner Circle, Dr. Oka, a genticist, gives him a rapid healing factor. And also clones Kirk to create an enforcement branch for the Council. After being trained by ninja master Asano Nitobe, he begins to realize that Coucil's goals to save humanity have become corrupted when they order Kirk to kill an Interpol Official. Along with Batman, Nitobe, Interpol Officier Christine St. Claire, and weapons dealer Kolu Mbeya, he wages war against the Council.

I managed to do a bit of homework on this and I'm wondering if these are right in any way -

Year One
The Man Who Falls
The Monster Men
The Mad Monk
The Man Who Laughs
The Long Halloween
Haunted Knight
Dark Victory
The Killing Joke
A Death in the Family

Obviously there are more but that's as much as I want to piece together now.

Those are the ones I know and heard are good. I've read half of a death in the family and I like it plus you've got a choice of getting it as a hardcover OR as a regular trade.

So, was your request for some good Batman stories? My favorite Character is the Joker, so I can recomend a lot of his that a first-timer would probably like:

The Killing Joke (My second favorite comic after Watchmen)
The Man who laughs
Death in the Family
Joker: Devil's advocate
The Joker's five-way revenge (If you can get over the old-school style)
Batman: Lovers and Madmen
Batman: Mad Love (From the Animated series, still less cheesy than the above)
Going Sane
Joker, by Brian Azzerllo. (If you do read this, let me know, I wanna talk about it)

Some other Batman's you might like:
Pretty much anything by Paul Dini
Bane of the Demon (Not really a Batman, but Bane meets Ra's Al Ghul, need I go further?)
Batman: Year One
The Dark Knight (Returns)
The Clayface issue by Alan Moore
Most of the 70's work by Dennis O'Neil. (He was the artiest and worked with a writer whose name escapes me at the moment)

Sorry about the fact that I listed almost half of the things you mentioned, and if it seems waaaaay too intimidating, nerds have a tendency to do that. Anyway, I also wouldn't worry too much about Continuity, and just read them however you feel. If it's supposed to be a specific time-frame (Like the Man who laughs takes place near the beginning of Batman's career, the Killing Joke after a long period of time) It should give you the sense of what's going on. Approach it like you would a Showa Godzilla film.
Before it can be filmed, drawn, acted or programed, it must be written.

I havent read a new issue of DC Comics for 2 months. Sword of Sorcery comes out this month and JLA starts soon. I'll read those two.

And another comic I got into bites the dust - Resurrection Man. ARGH!!!

Grant Morrison discusses, plus some pretty preview pictures, from the nearly decade waited for mini-series event, MULTIVERSITY.

Also, has anyone checked out the new TEAM-7 book as of yet ? I was a fan of the original, Image/Wildstorm minis from the nineties. And the crossover with Marvel's TEAM-X, written by G.I. JOE godfather ,Larry Hama, with art by Steve Epting(Avengers, Captain America). One of my favorite crossovers out there at the time. Still is. It also brings into the DcnU the criminally motivated nation state of Gamorra from the Wildstorm Universe as well. Big fan of some of those mags ,and characters back when, and glad to see them back. I know it's not the exact same membership from the nineties, other than John Lynch, and Cole Cash(Grifter) for now. Seeing the old title has my interest piqued.

Well DC just scored two points of awesome today with their graphic novels.

I just learned today not only is DC FINALLY doing showcase presents Jonah Hex: Volume 2 BUUUUUT they're also doing as a cash in(the good sense of the word) for man of steel they're release a GOLDEN AGE Superman OMNIBUS!!! Now as long as the binding is different, I'm all for this and will probably get it in June.

Oh and since Marvel NOW we're running out of ideas is in full swing, I can compare at least two titles with each other.

Avengers #1 and Justice League #1. This is kind of a tough one to choose as they're both basically set up issues with ironically having a superman in the end of each issue but if I were to choose, as much as I like Hickman I'm going with justice league mainy because how Green Lantern and Batman interacted with each other. Their both good but I perfer justice league.

Oh and the other title if anyone is curious is Thor: God of thunder and it's failing to impress.

But in other news, Gail Simone appruptly is kicked off of Batgirl... Because, that's why.

And Scott Synder's run on Swamp Thing is coming to an end due to his upcoming Superman title. Never really read anything of Scott's but I'm told he's a good writer and has always wanted to write Superman so this should be a treat.

Ok so Ive caught up the last 3 months of my sub comics...

The Green Lantern comics are kicking in up a couple notches with the mystery. I forsee Kyle becoming some all seeing guardian and the current Guardians being imprisoned in the prison The First Lantern was trapped in. New Guardians is my favorite title, easily. Red Lanterns a solid second.

Aquaman proves again to be the best of The New 52. The JLA crossover Throne of Atlantis is killer. I dont believe Aquaman and Batman might be throwing down.

The Savage Hawkman is going to pot.... Johns HATES anything after 1986 and brings Hawkman back to be 100% Katar Hol and now Carter Hall ... I dont approve. And the including of Pike and Deathstroke made me gag.

Sword of Sorcery Amethyst - wow. The Beowulf back up story looks very interesting. I like all the politics in the book. I hope there's more magical crossovers with Constantine and JL Dark.

Fury of Firestorm The Nuclear Man - streamlined the plot and seemed to have cropped the Firestorm of the week format. It's better, and it reads more like the 80s book. I approve.

Earth-2 is impressive but being a bit mediocre. It's reading like the 1999-2006 JSA which is a positive, but theyre doing odd stuff to the characters. I love The Flash but Im looking forward to Hourman more.

World's Finest - turd book so far. Power Girl's gag of losing her clothes is now old and they dont show much. I hope it goes back to being Huntress because Id rather see Power Girl get back to Earth-2 and shape up those lacksadaisy heroes.

Ive not read (but bought) the Legion of Superheroes and Legion LOST books. Trying to flesh out the 2008-2011 stuff before do I. Legion LOST is getting shit canned so hopefully LoSH will get better. Need's more Mon-El.

I also now sub to Justice League and Justice League of America but JLA doesnt start yet but it looks good.

On the second pic: it's their not "there." The misspelling makes me hate Aquaman even more.

The worlds of the Masters of the Universe and the DC Universe collide again after thirty years, and a cool set of ccrossover figures this August in DC UNIVERSE Vs. THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE from Masters scribe Kieth Giffen, art by Dexter Soy, and cover art by Ed Benes.
