I enjoy King Kong Escapes. It's a fun movie. The Mondo Island set looked nice and the King Kong suit used here is far better than the one used in King Kong vs. Godzilla. Mechani-Kong was also a great addition to Toho's roster of monsters but it's unfortunate that we'll probably never see him in another movie. I've only seen the U.S. cut of this movie, so I found Linda Miller annoying.

The movie as a whole is decent, but the climax bored me. :|

I think there's a brief shot of Mechani-Kong at the end of one of the Rankin-Bass KING KONG cartoon DVDs...

Ah yes King Kong escapes a really good flick to watch it for fun or just to kill time either way it's still a fun toho flick. My favorite character was Gorosaurs. When he died i was like ah man they killed off the most likable character in the film. Its probably my second or third favorite film with Kong in it. My rating 4 out of 5

^ KK76 is pretty dull, but I'm a bit shocked you don't find it superior to KKL. I'm usually told it's one of the most unbearable films of all time.

King Kong Lives is the worst, no doubt. Who thought that was a good idea? Satan?

I thought the 70's King Kong remake to be okay, I don't think it was awful. King Kong Lives was too silly, and I rather watch the 1998 animated movie of Kong instend.

King Kong (1933) (Dur, the best Kong film hands down)
King Kong vs. Godzilla (Japanese version only)
King Kong Escapes
King Kong (2005)
Son of Kong
King Kong Lives (wretched film, but it was one of my first Kong films as a kid, and I can appreciate it's lunacy, probably only thanks to nostalgia)
King Kong (1977) (No dinosaurs on Skull Island give this film an instant fail in my book, amongst it's many other problems)

THE MIGHTY PEKING MAN (1977) is easily my favorite Kong knockoff. I've never see" A.P.E.", but it makes KING KONG LIVES look golden in comparison.

I never saw A.P.E, but my favorite Kong knock off is "King Kung Fu" (1976). For my Kong ranking:

King Kong (1933)
King Kong '05
King Kong vs. Godzilla
King Kong Escpaes
King Kong '76
King Kong Lives

I can't remember if I seen Son of Kong or not.

Kong 05
Kong 76
Kong 33
King Kong vs. Godzilla
Son of Kong
King Kong Escapes
A*P*E (if that counts)

I barely remember King Kong Lives, I do remember him being trapped in an avalanche and him ripping a guy in half practically gave me a few nightmares.
