I suppose a mod or the admin could update this section from Godzilla (201X) to Godzilla (2014) since that's what the new target is.

Not going to sound negative or anything, but I think we should keep the 201X date until we get a official date. Something that is target at that date does not mean it will come out that year. 20th Century bought the rights to a Dragon Ball movie in 2002 and hope to released by 2004. The movie itself was never released until 2009.

I agree with HS. Lets not get ahead with the release date although Max said that theyre aiming
for that year its still not the official one (That is until LP reveals more news about it)

That's what I'm thinking. While I believe the movie will be released in time for Godzilla's 60th, things can keep that from happening.

Well Legendary just announced that the third Hobbit movie would be released July 2014. I think November or December 2014 is still possible. I think the part 1 of the final Hunger Games movie is the only thing that could be view as a threat given that those movies have a huge fan base.

1. It was Warner Bros not Legendary.

2. Warner Bros is distributing BOTH Godzilla and The Hobbit Part 3. I very very HIGHLY doubt they will do anything to jepordize either film at the BO

3. I firmly believe this movie is coming out in 2014.

**EDIT** The Hobbit Part 3 is coming out the SAME day as X-men: Dawn of Futures Past so there is still plenty of space open for Godzilla in the summer 2014

The Hobbit comes out in July 2014, Godzilla could easily open the summer with a May/Early June release an still have plenty of time prior to the release of The Hobbit.

Nobody is expecting Godzilla to pull in TDK numbers or Avenger's numbers, If you re-call Batman Begins made 350$ million on a 150$ million budget. Chances are Godzilla will be somewhere around that number, if not slightly higher due to 3D but less then 500$ million.

Personally i see a November/December 2014 release, but of course an early summer is still possible.

I rather see a November or December release date in 2014. There will be less films around that time other The Hunger Games 3 Part 1. 2014 summer has TF4, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Hobbit 3. Sure TF4 might not have a script yet but TF4 will take less time to make then Godzilla since they don't have to wait for approval or worry about a good story.

All I want is for it to come out in 2014. I don't care if it's early or late in the year, I just want something to celebrate Godzilla's 60th.

I really don't get why people are saying this project is gonna be released in 2014 fall or winter or hell even spring, pretty much every season except the summer. Godzilla just screams summer to me. Oh I know Toho has released G films in fall, winter and spring before as well as the summer but Hollywood likes to use films that have a lot of action and explosions as summer block busters and Godzilla fits that bill. Even GINO (sort of) fit that bill to an extent and I'm sure it had computation in the summer of 98. :eh:

I think that it's quite obvious at this point that LP will release an official trailer with the upcoming Pacific Rim flick. By that time, filming would be in progress and it should be in its mid stages of production. Also a release date will most likely be set with the trailer.

The summer season in 2014 has too many major movies and those big titles are released around the same time. Winter seems like a safer bet.

So?

People will still go see the movie just cause it's a summer block buster and at the very least they will expect something fun with lots of explosions. Godzilla just screams summer blockbuster.

My guess is we get a teaser for Godzilla with Man of Steel or Pacific Rim or both? And probably a full trailer with The Hobbit Part 2

But studios don't want there movie to be over shadow by bigger movies like Transformers, The Hobbit and Spider-Man. Some movies like The Green Hornet for example went to Summer 2010 the early 2011 to avoid being over shadow by movies like Iron Man 2 and Toy Story 3.

Yeah but movies like Transformers, Hobbit, X-Men, Spider-Man, and How to train your Dragon have bigger target audience. If they where going for a summer release date then they would start moving faster now. TF4 might not be in the making right now but that movie is easier to producer since the other three movies never had a good story to begin with.

Movies in the winter season have done fine before. 2012, the Harry Potter films, Twilight and the Bond movies did fine around that movie season. In 1998, they didn't had the same amount of big movies as we do now. Other then Armageddon and Saving Private Ryan, GINO made more money then the movies that came out that summer like Blade, Psycho, Mulan, Lethal Weapon 4, Deep Impact, and The Avengers.
