Release Date

Late 2013 or Summer 2014 for me.

Same for me. I'd rather wait and have an awesome movie, or have it come quick and have a crappy movie.

Since we are half through the year, what date is good for now? I say Thanksgiving 2014 is a good date to avoid major films during the summer but if they want a summer release date then I would say Summer 2015 is good.

The way I see it, in general, if it is schedued for a summer, there's a 50/50 chance it will be great or suck critically.

If it is scheduled for any other season, it will usually have higher chance critics will grade it higher.

Why do I say this?

Summer is when more people go to the theatre's. Money-grubbing studios/directors (a la Micheal Bay) try to hurry so that they are ready in time to release in summer.

Any other time, less people are in the cinema. Those directors take time to make a movie worth the moviegoer's time when they don't want to waste their quality time because they have less due to school/work.

Really, this is the only thing I feel disappointed about. You tease us, but don't give the release year. It just feels like they've done a lot... but haven't. You know? Just need this last confirmation to feel at ease.

As a person who has been working at theater for the past two years, November and December can be really busy. Some movies have done very well during the holiday season like Peter Jackson's King Kong, 2012, Twilight, Harry Potter, Immortals, Tron Legacy and several others have done well around those months. Seeing that a lot of people have shown to be very hype up for this film then I think Godzilla will do well around November and December.

My pre-apologizes, I'm about to get optimistic:

You know there is the chance that their trying to make this a out of left field production. Meaning having much of it done without releasing much press. Spielberg's War of the Worlds did that. No one knew about it during production then it came out of no where....at least to the best of me recollection. They might be taking a different approach. Too much hype can tire people out and cause them loose interest by the time a films actually released. When they were rebooting the Hulk, they released a rendered face shot of the new hulk look at comic con and the crowed went wild. Then come release time, a year later, after all the clips and numerous trailers, The Incredible Hulk ended up making almost the same amount as the original HULK (didn't out preform. Not a flop but not the blockbuster they were looking for either).

It's probably unlikely but this movie could be in production and in theaters for November 2012. X-men First Class was produced in a quick turn around time, this could too.

I would expect this is the type of film they would want to hype up a good bit, though. Perhaps not to the extent of G98 but Godzilla has some pretty healthy box office potential. I suppose they could just advertise it heavily once it's near its debut but I doubt it myself. Would be nice though haha.

Wow... can you believe that it'll already be 10 years since GFW came out when this is released. Time flys....

Also, I think I might have asked Borenstein the right question about kaiju in the film... we'll see how he responds.

Everyone in Comic Con went nuts after they saw the Trailer...(Who wouldnt) so that's a great sign for LP
to start moving forward in the Script and developing.
