Shit on the dog in it's sleep, that'll teach it.

Same with me. My mom said she enjoyed the film much more than she thought.

Not necessarily.
It would require a bit of reimagining his origin, but it could work.

Yaaaaaaaaaaawn. Nothing about this film is special whatsoever. Several scenes are almost a beat by beat rehash of the first film, Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker alternates between endearing and downright bloody annoying, the music score is skreeonk awful (no surprise coming from James Horner), and the plot reeks of laziness at points (how did Peter get his hands on all that BioCable? Did he steal it?). However, some fight scenes (namely the showdown at Peter's high school) are exciting, Gwen Stacy is a far better heroine than Mary Jane was in all 3 of Raimi's films, and Denis Leary was great.
But the film is so unnecessary, so bland, and so forgettable. At least Sam Raimi's films had a sense of wonder and scale. This film is just a product made by Sony to keep the franchise. Nothing more, nothing less. Watchable, but unmemorable.
