I just watched it.. Personally i thought it was just boring... Wasn't expecting much, but still what a let down an i actually love the character of the Lizard.

The effects were fine, The Spider-man suit i actually kinda liked after seeing it on screen more then before. Actually i'll go as far as saying all the actors did a fine job with what they were given to work with... No complaints

It's biggest flaw is it plainly was to soon for a Reboot, It was just Parker with a different bimbo...They just took the story of the Original 2002 film an dragged the boring parts longer.

Spiderman doesn't appear till nearly an hour in, the lizard a little after... I dunno maybe it was more faithful to the comic's an that's cool but i don't read them an sitting threw another Origin story was just ridiculous. Oh an i hated the Lizards face, the body was great... the face as stated reminds of Goomba's from Mario Bro's film...

4.0 out of 10.0 for me.. Hopefully the Sequel will be better

Saw the film. Absolutely loved it. If I were designing the Lizard, though, I'd have his facial features more like a reptile's instead of a human's. I was hoping the Lizard would progress into what we would hope for, but even so the Lizard was awesome. I hope there's a sequel, and if there ever is, they should design the Lizard to more what we'd like to see.

They really missed an oppurtunity to have the SWAT guys turn into more primitive lizard henchmen.

Yeah, it would've been cool to see the SWAT team take on the other lizards.

*SPOILERS*
Just went again today, in 3D. It was better than I remembered, but worse in certain areas. I think the thing that irked me the most was Lizard-Mouse. I guess it was expected, but the way they did just seemed kinda goofy to me. If anything, I thought it was going really slow. First his uncle dies and then he waists half the movie searching for the killer. And when he stops he doesn't even find the guy! Plus it took at least an HOUR before he puts on the costume. And that high school... Man I wish I went there! Flash can beat the crap outta 2 kids in five minutes with a mob around him, but Peter "embarrasses" him and Peter gets in trouble?! Plus the rules about skateboards at that school are almost nonexistent.
On the other hand I do prefer Andrew Garfield as Spider Man. He has more of the jokester feel to him than the conflicted hero feel of Tobey Maguire. I also prefer Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben. The first Ben was just there as emotional baggage instead of an actual character. The effects were better, but that's probably due to technology of the times. Spidey also moved more like a spider, whereas in Raimi's trilogy he just kind of walked around. I mean sure, Maguire's crawled, but Garfield's seemed more fluid and spider-like, crawling around Lizard making a web.
So, in order of best to worst:
Spider Man 2
Spider Man/The Amazing Spider Man
Spider Man 3

P.S.
After the credits when that man visits Connors, that thing he has in his hands was a fedora. He was also wearing an overcoat. I don't know many of Spidey's villains, but is this significant.

I think that's why I view it as a very good movie, due that it can make people who aren't fans of the character enjoy it.

Definintitely a good film. I like Garfield in the role because he's actually a wise ass like Spidey should be. Gwen Stacy was great. I really liked the Lizard though I feel he got cramped in between the origin and his own story. The snoutless design grew on me quickly though he had a bit of a large smile. Stan Lee was friggin hilarious and the plot was decently paced.

As for the future, I really hope they don't kill off Gwen. I really liked her (better than MJ in the originals). As for the next villain, I'd like to see Mysterio and Carnage instead of re-hashing the villains we already saw (though Green Goblin Noir Version is ok). And bring the Lizard back again as a semi-hero like in the game!

What villain do you want to see?

If you want Carnage to come in then you have to bring Venom in first.

Not necessarily.

It would require a bit of reimagining his origin, but it could work.

But since the movie is now closer to the comics, I think that'll be unlikely

Just give it the Ultimate Origin, derived from Peter Parker's DNA.

I agree. After all, the theme seems to be about genetic mutation.

Funny how that origin was derived from not only his DNA, but the black suit also so no matter how you think about it, Venom must be in it lol

Actually gave this reboot a shot today. Put down money and everything. And?

Yaaaaaaaaaaawn. Nothing about this film is special whatsoever. Several scenes are almost a beat by beat rehash of the first film, Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker alternates between endearing and downright bloody annoying, the music score is skreeonk awful (no surprise coming from James Horner), and the plot reeks of laziness at points (how did Peter get his hands on all that BioCable? Did he steal it?). However, some fight scenes (namely the showdown at Peter's high school) are exciting, Gwen Stacy is a far better heroine than Mary Jane was in all 3 of Raimi's films, and Denis Leary was great.

But the film is so unnecessary, so bland, and so forgettable. At least Sam Raimi's films had a sense of wonder and scale. This film is just a product made by Sony to keep the franchise. Nothing more, nothing less. Watchable, but unmemorable.

If Carnage does get added into the sequels then they will have Gwen Stacy get killed by him just like in the Ultimate comics. The Amazing Spider-Man films are supposed to be based on the Ultimate comics, so having her get killed by Carnage later on would make sense.
