I paid $13.99 at Hastings. Well, $9.99 after I used $4.00 store credit.

And no, they don't have any more at that B&M store. Online, dunno.

Mine was pre-ordered off Amazon, but when I got it the case was badly cracked so I couldn't even think about reselling it for an outrageous price.

I'm a bit regretful for not getting the Blu-ray too though. Maybe I'll get another chance, as long as I have the special features on the DVD then I won't mind a boneless BD (unless the quality sucks compared to the last release.)

Just ordered the DESTROY ALL MONSTERS Blu-ray for $25 off Amazon, a good buy compared to some of the other prices out there.

I just heard from Media Blasters... they've received confirmation from their distributor that the GODZILLA VS MEGALON DVD is shipping today.

The barebones DVD will do fine for me. I guess I'm not just as big of a fan of this franchise as the rest of you. I'm perfectly happy with barebones DVDs for these films. I even tolerate the DVDs of G vs KK and the Destroyah/Space double feature being dub only (but I draw the line at that one Tristar double feature that's pan and scan, that's a line too far). I have both the CM and Criterion versions of the first movie, but the rest I guess I can settle for "good enough".

I could bootleg or buying other region versions of the rest of the films, but I just don't care enough I guess.

I completely disagree with that line of thinking. If I "just didn't care" I would have bought one of those unlicensed DVDs a decade ago. Given that other studios passed on MEGALON because of all the unauthorized versions available, then the film being tied up for years due to bankruptcy, I for one am thrilled to finally get the a good transfer of the film in widescreen, uncut and with Japanese and English audio tracks.

Media Blasters certainly made their mistakes, and Toho can been very tough to deal with. That's two major factors preventing the extras-laden release many of us were hoping for, and it could easily take more than a year for Toho to give their final approval or rejection of the bonus features. So at this time, Media Blasters options were to wait that out (knowing that fans are complaining about delays) or go with what Toho has authorized (knowing that fans will complain). If I were in their shoes I'd probably make the same decision they did... and you know I'm someone who cares about this stuff.

I know you care very much Keith, didn't mean to imply that. I just thought the statement by Milo Bloom was slightly amusing is all. I'm sure you have had legal imports for years (as have I), and have never been without access to the film in one form or another. I guess there should be a feeling of relief/accomplishment that the film is finally coming out on R1 DVD. Its just that some people here feel so beat down, and I cant blame them. I'm sure it will be a quality release, its just that some people have waited so long for this. There are those that do care, those that dont, and those that feel like a malnourished child thankful to get its next meal no matter what it is. I know peoples memories are long, but if you take away the prospect of a Blu-ray release and the audio commentary, then I think most of the negativity goes away.

I wouldn't mind a barebones release if the picture quality was awesome. Unless Media Blasters does a new tranfer (ha!) we can't expect it to be an improvement over past releases (legal ones), aside from offering the uncut English version.

Best news I've heard thus far out of this newly arrived month! Though a bit sadden that we aren't getting the extras, I still can't wait for this. So long as the actual presentation of the film delivers than I'm all set.

I have the Madman DVD, but there's never been an official DVD release anywhere with the uncut English track so that alone is a big deal for me.

Keith, I totally love you man, and Im totally not doubting what they told you, but if the DVD is actually shipping, Id be VERY surprised. I wont be buying it because of theyre constant lying to and putting of fans last year and on Facebook.

If I see the movie at a store, I'll be the first to retract this, but I doubt it's anywhere except in some database.

I'm not enthused about this DVD release at all. I have the VHS so it's of little issue to me, and none of the other fans seem to care anyway.

Well, which VHS do you have? I don't see how any DVD release could be anything other than a major upgrade. Why stick with VHS anyway?

I guess I'll probably end up buying this, but it makes me feel like some kind of enabler of Media Blaster's behavior. I don't want to send the message that I'm "okay" with not having the extras-laden version I pre-ordered forever ago, but I also don't want to miss out on a decent R1 release. Sigh.

Nostalgia, and that's pretty much it. It's not like I'll be watching it more than one more time for a long while, anyway, so not much reason to fork out the extra money yet. Maybe I'll buy it at another time.

I'm really excited about this DVD release! Sure, it won't be perfect and probably won't have bonus features, but the most important thing is the movie itself. We've been waiting a long time for Godzilla VS Megalon, and I'm just glad we'll finally get it in a decent presentation. Can we just be positive for a change? :D
