Showa MG: Deadliest.

MG2: Most powerful.

Kiryu: Strongest. (He lifted up Godzilla by his tail, flung him around in circles multiple times and threw him almost half a mile away.)

Still I think MGII would win overall.

Yeah it paralyzed him. They said it would make it so he couldn't get up.

According to the guy who did Kaiju HQ, when it was still up... MGII is the only opponent that ever successfully killed Godzilla...

Kiryu is actually not bad. He's a happy balance in the 2 previous designs and he fights well. Some say he's an anime ploy, but not too much. I do find it weird that he needs recharging especially when he's mostly made of bones on the inside. Maybe its those hi tech systems.

Kiryu is okay. His origin, design, and powers make him my 2nd favorite MG. The thing that ruins it for me is that he knocks out way too easily. A majority of both of his film appearences is about getting him back up. I can excuse this for the first film because Kiryu was new and still had some kinks to work out. But its really annoying when they do it again. Didn't we just see this? Why are they just copying the plot from the first one? Couldn't they think of something else? If it wasn't for Mothra, both movies feel almost the same. I think it would've been better if Kiryu went on a rampage again and beat the crap out of everything. Wouldn't that enforce the whole reasoning of Mothra being in the movie? "Stop screwing around with the dead or bad stuff happens"?
But that's just my opinion.
Note that I haven't seen either movie in quite a while and its 1:30 in the morning were I live, so excuse me if I made any mistakes.

Some say that Kiryu is a cheap way to cash in on some anime style ploy and that ruins him.

Definitely cooler than MechaGodzilla '93, but not as cool as the original MechaGodzilla :)

Kiryu may not have killed Godzilla, but he gave him some incentive. He did kick his ass quite a bit... in both movies.
I thinks he's great, though not as good as the original Mechagodzilla, which was the best.

Anime is a touchy subject when it comes to Godzilla, especially when you get purists involved. But if it can be done right, I'd love to see some more anime influence in Godzilla or even an anime series (or at least some more manga).

Back on topic, Kiryu is alright in my eyes. He seemed the most like the Godzilla he was a counterpart to when compared to the Heisei and Showa versions in terms of design. I liked the fact that he had personality, though I did like the Showa MG's (somewhat goofy) coldness. I also give him kudos for being a much more physical fighter than the other two and going in the water (we need an amphibious MG).

Btw, I may be living under a rock, but can 1 (one) person give me the difference between Anime and Manga? Just asking.

Anime - Japanese Cartoons
Manga - Japanese Comics or Graphic Novels

Kiryu was pretty cool, it's Godzilla who was lame in that movie. Standing there motionless while being bombarded with missiles, bombs and beams? Lame. And he ran (walked)away from two fights with Kiryu in the first movie alone. Plus, I feel like they made Godzilla stupid.

I don't know if they were trying to make Godzilla easy to root against or just make Kiryu (and Godzilla '54 in a way) cooler, but I don't think Godzilla was treated as the king of the monsters, whether he was going to win, lose, or draw.

I always thought he stood still for the missiles because he's used to being hit with it, but when the maser beam came along he was like "Ow, you son of a bitch! That hurts!".

Yeah, he wasn't dumb... But rather unimpressed by the convential weaponry. Kind of like he was saying "Is this really all you have?", until he was shot by the masers.
