Godzilla: The Look/Appearance Speculation

For the discussion of the upcoming Godzilla film by Legendary Pictures.

If Legendary ever does make a film involving King Kong, they should go for a design probably something like this:

Personally I would take a mystical origin for Kong instead of him being just a generic giant ape.

I do like the idea of him having tribal tattoos and markings, but actually being a mystical being? Eh. Kinda takes away from his simplistic badassasitude. He's Kong. He doesn't need magic powers. He'll beat the shit out of you with his bare fists.

Besides that, I REALLY doubt Legendary will ever do anything with Kong.

Let's focus on Godzilla, since this movie is... a Godzilla movie.

He dosent have to have mystical powers. He just has to have mystical origins

Pretty much this. He could have his electrical power-ups, but he'd still use his fists for combat.

I think a Future King Kong Movie Ideas thread would be great for someone to start. Would be fun to discuss because there are some good ideas I've heard, but ...

With CG you can make Godzilla seem more alive than he's ever been before and just doing that with a design we've already seen would be new enough.

Hey everyone, the name's Mr. Sanderz, and this is my first Godzilla forum. I read we're not supposed to make pure introduction posts, so I'll cut to the chase. I think they should take this new design in a whole different direction, something like this: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/ ... 4zc4c7.jpg

... What is it with people making Godzilla a goddamn blimp?

If anything like that was used, this would fail harder than the Hindenberg.

I don't like it.

Others may have their opinions though.

That Godzilla looks too much like a frog or a fish.

Found another Godzilla design:

Damn. Chris, the artist, told me why the hunch is there. And I forgot.

Dammit.

You know, I'll be fine with a slightly changed design, as long as I can tell it's Godzilla. I won't be nitpicky about it, but i wouldn't be happy if it was another Zilla.

I think the gojira names origin is taken literally in that drawing.

Guess I wanted to join the fun so I made a quick and dirty doodle (so don't kick me if it's not perfect) about how the new Goji could look:

I like a slight hunchback look to Godzilla. I think that would be a cool design. To have the largest of the spines be right near the center and upper part of his back giving him a slight hunch and menacing look.

Heres 2 I did for my Godzilla fanon. The design is mostly based off the Heisei suit minus some fat with some dinosaur influence like the scaly plates on the arms and shins.

For Burning Godzilla, I drew a completely new upper body and photoshopped it onto the first image. The reason for all the spikes and sharper edges is to give him a more nightmarish look to go along with his critical mass state. The chest sports visible pectoral muscles which where intended to be sort of "see through" and you could see a faint glow each time Godzilla's heart beat.

Excuse the vast diffrence in color on the tail spines, something went wrong during shading.
