I haven't gotten into the EU much yet, but I have read Karen Traviss's REPUBLIC COMMANDO series, and highly recommend it.

I always refer people new to SW novels-to the unofficial starting point of Star Wars Novels- Timothy Zahns "Thrawn" Trilogy:

My bad, good sir. I had seen the video several days before what's-his-name posted it here. I somehow glossed over the second link he posted.

Im pretty positive the time travel aspect is not true. Doesn't seem like something even Lucas would want to do.

Why's that? Personally, I don't think he's anywhere near as bad. He's also not insane.

I'm not sure I like the sound of a more "mature" Star Wars; I prefer the family-friendly approach.

A darker, edgier Star Wars show, sounds very interesting, kind of curious what scenarios they will come up with.

:shock:
Deadwood is one of the greatest series ever, but I'm not really sure if that level of grit is suitable for the SW universe.

There's nothing grittier than a bounty Hunter. The Star Wars universe is full of hired killers, prostitutes, murderers, and carnivorous aliens (both sentient and not). Hell, Trandoshans are just looking for an excuse to tear someone apart.

I don't really want Fett to be the protagonist of this series, but I wouldn't mind him being a semi regular character.

The Plinkett review of episode 1 had behind the scenes footage of Lucas, McCallum and others watching the film together for the first time. Everyone looks confused and angry.

^No, you're not my friend.

I don't think Jar Jar is racist. I think Jar Jar is annoying as hell.
People are calling these things racist w/out knowing what racism means and/or don't know what to really call it.

People say that Jar Jar is racist because he's voiced by a black guy. How is that racist?

People are saying that he's racist because his mannerisms and way of talking are based on really archaic stereotypes about Jamaicans.

It's the same way that this is Racist to Asians and isn't acceptable anymore;

The claim that Jar Jar is racist comes from the fact that many of his speech patterns and mannerisms are extraordinarily similar to those used in minstrel shows. You can read all about on this here Internet.
