Yeah man, welcome to the Mothra 2003 club! Best Mothra design ever. Also my favorite Mechagodzilla, and one of my favorite Goji suits.

Besides Mothra 2003 in either their 30cm or 25cm lines, I really want a vinyl sculpt of Kiryu. The resin version while I could've purchased it myself, is just isn't in the cards for me right now - mostly because it's sculpted out of resin. I'm afraid that I may break it and that'll be hundreds of dollars down the drain. I feel safer when I handle the vinyl figures.

Other worthy Millennium kaiju that I can see X-Plus producing besides Mothra and Kiryu 2003 include:

- Megaguirus
- Godzilla 1999 / 2000
- The GMK Lineup
- FW Gigan
- FW Anguirus
- FW Rodan
- FW Godzilla

It's a risk, but I think that the resin versions look better, in general. More fine detail, IMO.

Yes that is true... which makes Kiryu so tempting. But still, I've had my fair share of trouble with resin figures and statues in the past that I am not willing to take the risk.

Hmmm wonders if I should get a King Ghidorah resin and forget the vinyl when announced. Thoughts?

If you have the money and delicate hands, go for the resin one.
But if you're like me and not that confident in handling such fragile items, then get the vinyl version.

I'm just waiting to see if Kiryu would ever get a vinyl figure release... it's unlikely, but who knows.

I would but I actually prefer Kiryu's more streamlined and organic design to the original's blocky retro robot aesthetic. I do prefer the fact that MG '74 was a villain. Here's hoping the next MG (and Ghidorah) returns to its roots a bit.

I would not substitute the resin one for the prospective vinyl one.

1. The resin one is over 11 years old and the after-market price is relatively high (there's been some auctions on ebay recently where good deals were had, but on average it can cost over $450) to the extent that the same money would pay for at least 2/3 of a vinyl one...

2. the resin statue is in quasi 25cm scale. which means in order to display it where it doesn't appear too small, it needs to be displayed with 10" or so figures, and not 30cm figures

3. it's also somewhat fragile. i haven't moved it from my parents' apartment because i'm deathly afraid of having parts of it break off.

It is a GREAT item though and was far and away the best ghidorah product in terms of value at its release (I paid $150 for mine). There is the issue of the horns on the heads being sculpted in the wrong direction on the earlier runs of the figure (mine has this issue) but it's inconsequential when the rest of the statue is great.

but again, if/when x-plus releases a 30cm KG vinyl, you're going to pick it up, regardless if you get the statue or not, once you see the size difference.

I really hoping for an X-Plus 68' King Ghidorah soon. I recently placed my order for the S.H. MonstertArts King Ghidorah from Hobby Search with half price shipping promotion.

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10188580

Granted it's the 91' King Ghidorah, It's still an incredible sculpted figure. Until X-Plus makes a 68' KG, That and my Bandai 91' Real Action KG will have to tide me over.

The recent Polystone Mecha King Ghidorah was really hot too, to bad it wasn't in vinyl.

I do agree with this. I really like Showa Mothra figures, but in the movies... Meh.

Kiryu is rocking for a cybernetic Godzilla design, and I like Heisei Mechagodzilla for a... Mechanical Godzilla.

Showa Mechagodzilla has a cool design, but I just don't like it entirely too much.

Agreed. After getting the Gigabrain KG figure (and I'm seriously contemplating pre-ording the SH KG figure as my first SH figure), the only way I would be interested in an Xplus KG at this point would be if they did something that hasn't really been done before, such as the 68 or 72 suit (in 25 inch scale, as I don't collect 30 cm figures)...otherwise, forget about it.

Disagree...that figure looks terrible. A while back, a collector on CT posted photos of it, and there tons of glue marks on the wings...just an ugly, unappealing figure in general. Would love to see MechaKG in the Xplus line sometime down the road...

Any guesses on what the price range will be for the 30 cm Ghidorah '68?

I would guess it'll be in the ballpark of what the Biolonte figure cost. I think Hobby Search sold it for around 400, and near 75 shipping. Prices can also fluctuate depending on the exchange rate.
I would also guess that the exclusive pack-in will be one of a few things.. taken from either the Monster Zero or Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster films.

3. The Controller of planet X

With shipping and handling (and I presume exchange rate), I paid $627 for my Biollante through Hobby Search. I imagine King Ghidorah will be in that ballpark. Looking forward to adding my favorite monster to my collection but that price! Ouch :(

Yeah, Biollante was rough. I've since sold her, but she $475 before shipping and about the same as you paid after shipping where I got mine from. I wish we could get a U.S. distributor for these or something.

Yeah I'm debating on selling mine. She's absolutely amazing. But she just takes up a lot of space, and it'd be cool to get that money back that I paid for her (+ probably more).

I actually like Varan's colors to be quite honest. It may not be the brighter color scheme that we saw in DAM, but I guess they're going for more the '58 coloration moreover.

I prefer it over the 25cm Showa Mogera's colors. That figure looks as if someone just spray painted it, and its eyes too dull, unlike the Revoltech version.
