Anyone else kind of like the FW version of Zilla?

Zilla getting killed off in Final Wars was the whole idea to prove who was a better version of Godzilla. I think Toho is going to keep Zilla dead forever and I doubt anyone will make figures off of him.

I am aware of that. I never said Zilla was/is better than Godzilla because he isn't. I'm just saying I like Zilla. And why do people keep on saying how there will be little to no trace of him...what is the point to make me feel bad because I am a fan?

No one's intentionally trying to make you feel bad for liking Zilla, it's a fine animal in it's own right.. An could probably make one hell of a fun popcorn movie out of the Godzilla Universe.

Were just being honest in the fact that there's no reason in the world to ever see this monster back on the screen that all. I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind seeing Zilla out of his own or even a cameo in a Toho film.... but the chances of that happen are slim, an a big Hollywood film NONE. ]

Esp with Godzilla, Pacific Rim, an even a rumored Cloverfield sequel in the possible works... It's unlikely to ever see this creature return.

I use to hate on Zilla until I stopped thinking of him as Godzilla. ZIlla gets far to much bashing.

I like Zilla in the sense that he is now his own monster, instead of a bad Godzilla imitation.

It's funny when you think about it; GINO will never go away, and Zilla will never come back.

I guess I just took the replies the wrong way. Although my intent for this thread wasn't for it to turn into a GINO & Zilla comparison and especially I didn't want it to turn into another Zilla bashing thread. The specific title of this thread is "Anyone else kind of like the GFW version of Zilla?" not "Will Zilla ever come back or is he dead?".

They're simply not that different. Zilla is "cooler" in that he wasn't a chicken shit, actually had an atomic ray (which he didn't even get to use in FINAL WARS), and a 'fighting spirit'. However, the CGI used for Zilla in FINAL WARS was a lot cheaper looking than what was used for GINO (for reasons already explained by Hellspawn).

Zilla's finest hour was in the cartoon series. It had a good run, but it's a shame it didn't last longer.

The only version of Zilla that truly had a form of an Atomic Ray/Breath was Zilla Jr./Toonzilla in the animated series. The animated series was a good show I agree. I own a few DVDs of it. There is a chance Zilla can appear again in a Toho/kaiju film at least in a cameo role. I understand that the main reason they had him in Final Wars was for him to be defeated by the Japanese Godzilla but Toho has brought back their kaiju characters from the dead before. You will probably see Zilla in a video game, he was going to be in Godzilla Unleashed but they pulled him out so there is a decent chance they will have him in the next Godzilla fighter game. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Zilla doesn't deserve all the bashing he gets which is mainly due to many people still thinking of him as an attempt for a new version of Godzilla. Once you get that thought out of your head and start thinking of Zilla both in GINO and Final Wars he is a pretty cool monster/kaiju.

"Toonzilla"/Zilla Jr. is basically the same thing as "Zilla", as far as I'm concerned. The may not be the "same" monster, but it's the same character.

GINO/Zilla/Zilla Jr./whatever is pretty "cool", and I don't dislike the design at all. He's an interesting take on the Godzilla character. I like that he has his own place in the Toho universe, and isn't only looked at as an imposter anymore. I'm just being realistic in trying to explain to you why he'll never be featured in a feature film ever again. That's all.

Well at least he managed to jump over the first atomic breath and cause more damage to Sydney in 2 minutes then what GINO did to New York in the whole 2 hour film. Hell the army and air force caused more damage to New York in G'98 then GINO.

Very good points indeed. It shows FW Zilla had very good reflexes and a killer jumping ability that is better than most if not all kaiju. FW ZIlla also seemed to be less cowardly or at least more aggressive than GINO. I would love to see how FW Zilla would handle another kaiju that is weaker than Godzilla.

I remember reading somewhere that the director said FW Zilla had sort of an acid fire breath which he used to take down that tower when he first appeared in Final Wars. It's debatable though.

GINO (as in, the atrocity that was G98) will never go away, no matter how much we try to forget it existed. It cant be erased from Godzilla's history.

And Zilla obviously wont return because, well, it's Zilla (even though some people actually do want this one to come back).

Toho Zilla is a lot more likely than other characters to come back like for example Gabara, Giant Condor, Toho's Kong, Mechani-Kong right off the top of my head. I'm not saying I guarantee that Toho Zilla will come back I'm just saying he is more possible than others.
