It's not that GRA did it worse than films that came later. It's that no film made after GRA attempted to do the "vs." idea in the same way that GRA did.

As TV said, in any other "vs." film, both monsters were equally portrayed, and both were very necessary to the film in order to get to where it wanted to go. In GRA, however, Anguirus is entirely unnecessary to the story. You could remove Anguirus from the film and it would still function in the same fashion that it already does.

You can actually say that the first "vs" idea is in Journey to the Centre of the Earth. you know, that Jules Verne novel...with the sea underground and giant dinosaurs battling it out near the climax of the novel.

He's discussing how modern physics focuses on those two areas, while Newton developed the basic parts of physics and calculus....and then he turned 26. And just because modern physics doesn't focus on motion does not mean that Newton wasn't a physicist

Anyway, its a good analogy on Drew's part.

No, it's that, essentially, Newton was wrong about how things worked. Only later did the current worldview of physics happen. Newtonian physics is basically hyper-simplified baby-physics with little depth to it. But that doesn't make it not physics.

I was close enough.

I should look at that Newtonian stuff...

If you've ever taken a moment to think about your shot in pool, you've basically done Newtonian physics on a Euclidean plane. That's essentially how simple his laws of motion are (sans gravity).

Okay, I'll be the party pooper: I don't care for Gyakushu-Goji. It looks alright from the profile, but unnaturally skinny from the front. It's a rather rushed-looking suit overall.

I do like Anguirus, on the other hand.

I don't like the suit's head, nor the prop head, but the suit itself looks fairly nice. I agree about Anguirus, I looks like a mean lil' bastard.

The head is the only thing on the suit that bothers me. From other angles, its fine. Certain ones make it look like crap.

Just watched it again today and my biggest complaint is that the footage of the monsters fighting seems to be "sped up" but when the monsters were walking around, they were moving at normal speeds. To me, it make the battles seem less realistic. I understand the crew was still working out how best to film something like this and that fight scenes are usually done fast and slowed down in later films (probably as a result of the experience in this film), so I don't really mind it in the end.

The speed up footage was a mistake, though Tsuburaya liked it, and decided to keep it. It doesn't really have anything to do with how competent/incompetent the cameraman was. All of this is covered in the audio commentary.

As for the movie, I definitely don't "hate" GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN. Yeah, it's lackluster, but I'd still rather watch it over any of the films made after 1989, save for one or two films.

I'm not saying the cameraman was competent/incompetent, just that I didn't really care for it to be handled/edited that way.

On another note, I did really like the Godzilla suit for this film. Probably one of my favorite from the Showa era.

I'm going to be honest, that is one fugly looking monster head. As such, I'm not a fan of GRA suit. Every time I see it, I let out a little "Eww...".

The movie for me was ok. i watched the original Jap. Version and i preffer it over the American one (When i was kid
and i first watched it it was just awful im still thinking it is) The battle scenes were cool (but bad compared with
the rest of the Showa series) and Godzilla's face was just horrible.
