Should we Retire SpongeBob?

Postby TyrantGojira » Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:50 pm

I'll admit, when i was younger, i loved this show, but now, it's not funny. The show is now loud and annoying, because of that i only turn on the older episodes, they were gold. i don't know what happened, did they run out of ideas, did they get new directors, or did the just throw their hand up their hand saying we're not going to try? Personally, the shoud retire the character, with every shread of dignety he has left. Nuff said.

Yes because IMO Spongebob lost his magic touch shortly after the Spongebob film came out. Newer episodes nowadays aren't quite as good as the first few seasons but since Nick (the TV channel) sees Spongebob as one of its top drawing shows, Spongeboob will be around forever

HELL. YES.

I swear to God watching that show was like watching a retarded clown punch himself in the junk.

Yes. This cow is no longer being milked, it's being drained of blood while hooked up to some demonic contraption made of dead cows.

Pretty much, plus I find it extremely annoying how dumb Spongebob can be.

I grew up with this show, the old episodes had heart. I had watched a newer one not too long ago....it was one of the biggest duds I've ever seen. The show has lost its heart.

Kinda funny how people far out of the age range of the show's target demographic are complaining and insisting it needs to be cancelled.

If the kids still like it what harm is it doing?

To be honest, I don't really mind Spongebob still hanging around. I don't focus on it much, but it's focusing on the newer generation. If it's gonna get retired, I guess I won't really care. Same for if it stays. I just hope that the second movie can get back some of the classic Spongebob humor.

It'll be a miracle if that happens and perhaps get Motorhead for the soundtrack

I watch the first three seasons of Spongebob on Netflix, just so I can remind myself that the show was once upon a time skreeonk awesome and not pants-on-head stupid like it is now.

I don't see a problem with spongebob still being on for those that want to watch why take it away from someone that likes (kids) Just because most of us on the forum age group don't find it funny anymore.

Retire isn't the right term, but yes, SpongeBob needs a rest.

I will say, I think SpongeBob's the kind of character who can come back in ten and twenty years be a timeless success. But the current series definitely needs to come to an end. Say what you will about Family Guy, South Park, but I'd say SpongeBob is the show that has suffered the most in terms of quality.

Only problem with this statement was MJ didn't have a childhood in till he got to be an adult.
