unreleased Godzilla

Postby mhmiles » Sat May 05, 2012 8:23 pm

There are a number of Godzilla and other monster films that have still not been released in North America and still others that have not yet been released in the original format and language. Does anyone know anything about upcoming release dates for any of these? (return of Godzilla 1985 etc. not Megalon)

There are no upcoming Godzilla releases for Home Video, except for the Megalon release in August 2012.

I wouldn't expect MEGALON to see release. Media Blasters are in deep Bantha poodoo these days, and things are looking grim for the company.

A while back it was said that Echo Bridge Enterainment was preparing a release of BIOLLANTE, but it's been quite some time, and we haven't heard anything since. There was never an official announcement anyway.

This, unfortunately.

And this. I don't think there's really anything kaiju related that's scheduled officially for release aside from Sector 7 (which is a more human sized monster movie from RK) and the Daimajin trilogy from Mill Creek that they've said is coming in "late 2012". Gamera the Brave BRD and Megalon DVD are in limbo at this point obviously.

So....Godzilla vs. Megalon, despite being on Amazon for pre-order, most likely won't see release? That's disappointing.

I think people are taking things a little harder than they need to.

It's unlikely we'll see a full final release of Megalon, but the door isn't shut completely yet.

This doesn't sound like JVM.

I've heard Criterion is preparing the Teruyoshi Nakano Collection, a set consisting of Submersion of Japan, Prophecies of Nostradamus and The Return of Godzilla. All three films are released with their various alternate versions, English dubbings and brand new 7.1 tracks. Supposedly there's a featurette by various Tokusatsu scholars, completely dedicated to the "Highway Explosion" scene, and details the various times it's been used and it's impact on Nakano's career. There are also brand new interviews with the cast and crews of these films, as well as isolated music channels and the box is shaped like the Cybot Godzilla.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

I would love to believe you, good sir, but I'm curious what your source is.

In all seriousness, he's probably just joshing us.

Like any reliable source of information, mine wishes to remain anonymous. He also said Toho is selling Godzilla to Chaiyo because they think the character is no longer profitable. Hooray!

My source tells me that Chaiyo owned Godzilla from the get-go. Also, Sompote Sands has kidnapped Yoshimitsu Banno and is forcing him to direct GODZILLA AND HANUMAN X CROCODILE X MAGIC LIZARD 3D.
