Of the Y-MSF figures I've seen, I like the Kumonga, Gabara, Megalon and the 67 because they throw in the little Minya figure with it.
I'm interested in the glow in the dark figures. Has anyone here purchased them, and how well do they glow like the name says?

I prefer ther Y-msf G '67 to the Mem. box version. Especially with the tiny Minya.... They really nailed the ugly.

Oh no.. There are FAAAAR uglier figures of him out there.

I found a glittery Y-MSF Godzilla... NOT too big a fan of getting another vinyl Godzilla figure right NOW, but it is tempting.

Fumiaki has a tendency to churn out random sculpts that make everyone go apesh!t...and then the figures themselves never actually come out.

I do wish it was Zoa Muruchi, though. It's a far more attractive design, IMO.

That sounds like an excuse to rationalize the poor quality and high prices.

First, we weren't talking about Y-MSF figures and cannot comment on them as I don't own any. Secondly, what is the rationale behind, say, the Bandai King Seesar's poor quality and high prices? See, I can make blanket statements as well...

No, your blanket statement theory would not fit! Bandai was only 700 yen for the 6" figure and 1200 yen for the 8 " figure of King Caesar. Maybe you don't like the Bandai design, but it is well made/built to last!
Thin vinyl is not quality, its just cheap! You wouldn't see M1, Marusan, or X-Plus make figures that way!
Also, as far as say these toys(Y-MSF) were only made for collectors doesn't cover the fact that lot of the toys are sold to kids! Kids made up a good percentage of their market! Go to a show and you will see this first hand! I've had parents tell me that Y-MSF were not worth it(they break) and overpriced!

BandaiBandit wrote:When Y-MSF came out, they charged $50 and a tagged Bandai was only $75. Y-MSF are nice designs but are cheaply made. The vinyl is very thin and would break if a kid played with it. Bandai are built to last, and are still around today! If kids play with Y-MSF they will not be around, only collectors pieces will last 20 years. The older companyies made them to last, the newer not so much. People remember that, and also remember collector toys like Y-MSF are cheaply made! If you don't believe me about the cheaply made, just push in on a Y-MSF belly the head will pop off!

That's funny, because I squished the mid-section of my Megalon and Rodan figures, and no such thing happened.

Hmmm, I wonder why that is? It couldnt be that you're just making shit up...could it?

Naw.

So you're comparing the works of a one-man operation to the likes of M1, Bandai and X-Plus? Real fair.

Also, as far as say these toys(Y-MSF) were only made for collectors doesn't cover the fact that lot of the toys are sold to kids! Kids made up a good percentage of their market!

So? There are plenty of kids that manage to pick up X-Plus and Marmit figures. I've seen plenty of kids on YT that own some. Does that make them kid's toys now?

What's your point, exactly? Because you're making very little sense.

Go to a show and you will see this first hand! I've had parents tell me that Y-MSF were not worth it(they break) and overpriced!

Because they're not meant for play, just for display.

Just because kids have access to them doesnt mean they're meant for them. Just look at M rated video games, or R rated movies.

'WE' weren't talking. PERIOD. Again you butt in on yet another thread. I quoted someone else.
Do you ever get tired of that shit ?

Yeah, but Y-MSF figures were made for collectors to be put on a shelf. Bandais were and are made for kids.

THAT is the person I quoted. Not you. I was responding to THAT person. Not you.

I WAS going to post my rebuttal to BandaiBandit's post:

Keep in mind that Y-MSF is not a major company like Bandai. It's one guy making a mold, then mass producing it to a limited number (about 1000 a piece). That's the reason why they are so expensive and why the vinyl is not high quality like Bandai.

Again, M1 and Maursan are toy companies that have hundreds of workers. Same for X-Plus. Not one guy.

Well it's the parents own fault for buying the figure if they think it's overpriced.

But I think G2K summed it up better than I did.

I'll give you the Bandai theory other than the vinyl quality, F-MSF could thickin up their figures a little.
When M1 started he didn't have but just a few workers and did most of the molding himself. His toys were never poorly made! Marusan has been around, but never made thin vinyl figures.

Y-MSF.

Not sure why you misspell it on purpose.

When M1 started he didn't have but just a few workers and did most of the molding himself. His toys were never poorly made! Marusan has been around, but never made thin vinyl figures.

M1 is no longer a small operation. Y-MSF still is, and it's just a hobby to him at that.

BandaiBandit wrote:First off, I don't have to make shit up! That did happen in front of a several people(people on this board) at Frank Son Show in LA. At a booth own by one of the bigger Japanese dealer around! Way before the toy hit the mainstream market, because he knows the company owners of Y-MSF!

Ok.

Can you prove it? Do you know anyone on this board that witnessed this? Can you back up this claim in any way possible?

And if so, what figure was it? Was it a prototype or a final product?

Did you ever think it was just a bad figure? Not indicative of ALL Y-MSF figures?

Because I've never heard of someone squishing the belly and having a head pop off. And even if that were true, that would require a very loose head and, ya know, AIR PRESSURE.

BTW Fixed the bolded.

I have been selling Godzilla toys for 25 years, and know what I'm talking about when it comes to vinyls. BTW...Kids are the larger target audience, because they are toys! Poor quality is just poor quality!

So all those marmits and marusans and M1s are for kids as well? I mean, after all, going by that logica, they are just toys, which are meant for kids.

Maybe if you came up with a better argument than shouting "THEY'RE CHEAP THEY'RE CHEAP" several times, we could go somewhere with all this.

I have the 2nd Megalon mold and the first Rodan, and never had anything break or fall apart. These things arent brittle.

I mean, what are you guys doing to your figures exactly? Banging them around until something comes loose or just leaving them on a shelf like you would any other figure?

You guys complain about the vinyl being cheap, but what does it matter if the figure is just going to sit on a shelf anyway?
