The synopsis sounds badass, and with Comic Con so close...lets see if we get a Teaser trailer by those days.

Jaegers huh? that reminds me of someone...with a huge Grin...and metallic head...

I had this thought too.

I'm hoping for at least one robotic thumbs-up.

I thought of Zoids for some odd reason.

Isn't that the name of the blue Leiger Zero (however it's spelled) armor pack thing that makes it fast?

Speaking of which, a ZOIDS live action movie needs to happen. A discussion for another thread perhaps.

Liger* and yes.

But "Jaegers" also makes me think of some very, very fun and bad nights during the last school year.

Yes! For some reason I remember a lot from that show (or there were multiple shows/continuities but I only watched that one with Bit and friends). They should try to popularize the show again in light of how the mechs like Transformers are popular again.

Just for the notes: "Jäger" - or alternatively "Jaeger" - is the german term for "hunter" or "huntsman".

Mick Jaggers. Instruments of bluesy rock and roll combat.

I can't wait to see some monster designs. Some truly kaiju-esque monsters will seal the deal for me.

^ Oh, yeah him and Jet Jaguar.

Jaeger = Hunters

That sounds badass. Hunting monsters and dont be afraid of anything...but if the synopsis says they are "losing"
or so then they will be the hunted.

What I'm going to say probably won't be popular, but...

The synopsis stunk. Pretty badly. It was far too typical, and easily predictable. It almost seemed like they were trying to add cliche's to the plot. I literally could've grabbed that plot from another movie, it sounded so typical.

Jeez, it's a synopsis. Like a tease at what the movie is about. What did you expect? Look at the synopsis for every summer blockbuster released in the last twenty years and they will all sound that way.

Two people locking minds via a neural bridge to pilot giant robots to battle kaiju mysteriously risen from the sea??

Yeah, totally sounds like every movie I saw this year. So typical. LOL

Nah, what little we can glean from the synopsis sounds very cool. Of course, the quality of the film will not rest on the novelty of its premise but on the strength of its execution, so we can't tell yet how it will be. But I'm very optimistic.

The movie is directed by Guillermo del Toro, who is one of the best directors in Hollywood at the moment in my opinion. He has yet to direct a bad film expect Mimic for which he admits was not that great of a film.

There is a director's cut of Mimic which improves some of the movie's faults.

Mimic's not flawless, but it has a lot going for it. Not a bad flick by any means IMO. Del Toro is an incredibly talented, creative guy.

I remember seeing Mimic once and I didn't care for it. Blade II was a awesome sequel, I really enjoy both Hellboy sequels, The Devil's Backbone is really well done and Pan's Labyrinth is one of my all time favorite films. I have yet to see Cronos, but I think Pacific Rim should end turning out good.

I'm gonna try to resist reading the sypnopsis, viewing pictures or even watching the trailer for Pacific Rim from now on. I think it would be interesting to walk into the theater with a clean slate for once.

I love that Idris Elba is the lead in both this and Prometheus. Guy skreeonk deserves it, truly one of the greatest actors around today.
