What Godzilla Movies have you cried on?

For discussions covering more than one Toho film or show that span across more than one “era.”

Years ago when I was probably about roughly 10 or so and believe it or not when I was 10 I cried to Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla at the end when there is that brief moment with Absolute Zero when you first think Godzilla may have been killed until it shatters and Godzilla emerges. I was in tears because of that brief moment...

It struck me when Junior died, but luckily he didn't die and replaced his father:

I might have cried once for a little bit when Godzilla died in Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah, but that was years ago.

Ive always wondered. Is that the Meltdown Godzilla suit with the lights off or is that an entirely new one?

Its Junior, revived from the radiation that the death of his father put out.

Question went right over your head.

I would guess it's the SpaceGoji (forget the name of it) suit but I can't be sure.

^The 94 suit was turned into the Burning suit, so I'm not sure how they did that with Junior at the end. Maybe they filmed that scene first before putting the lights in and shooting the rest of the film?

As you can there is some "Clear parts" in the spines so im guessing that its the same suit just turned off.

Teared up as a kid whenever I watched Godzilla 1985's volcano sequence. Ah heck, still do.

Godzilla vs. Destroyah. Closing scene with Godzilla's son roaring.

While re-watching the Heisei series with my girlfriend, I have to say that the ending of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2 when Asuza is trying to leave Baby is an especially tear-jerking scene. Baby totally brings out a Lassy type of feeling to the audience, and you feel bad for the poor thing as it tries to prevent Asuza from leaving him. Top it off with Ifukube's emotional music and great animatronics allowing Baby to shed a tear, the scene really is pretty moving and had a much greater impact for myself when viewing it with my gf.

....

I am well aware of the movie that concept it from, the ending shows Jr. standing in a graveyard with nothing surrounding him... While this shows something.

I don't think I ever cried during a Godzilla movie, but I remember making the conscious effort NOT to the first time I saw Son of Godzilla (the ending).

Yeah, the ending to Son of Godzilla had me going. I seriously think that SoG was the only Godzilla film that I actually cried to.

I don't remember if I cried at the ends of The Return of Godzilla nor Godzilla vs. Destoroyah - I still bash on Kawakita for the whole meltdown death idea. I personally think that Godzilla's death in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah could have been handled a lot better than it did. I found myself feeling more sympathetic towards Junior's death rather than Godzilla's... but it still did not have me tear up.

I assume you mean 1985?

There was no Godzilla 1987.
