I'm not a fan of Varan or that Mogera, so I'll let my wallet recover for a bit.

Though it does look like maybe Spiega is just around the corner, as that would be the last monster before Ghidorah to complete the DAM set.

I may consider on buying the 30cm Varan since the Showa Mogera isn't a favorite of mine.
I hope more interesting kaiju come out in the 25cm eventually though.

I REALLY like that Varan.. May very well be my first, and maybe only, X-Plus figure. Any word on an internet exclusive version or just a normal-ish release?

That Varan looks killer. That is gonna be a quick seller. Varan is a kaiju that is not over used.

That showa Mogera looks cool...showa Mogera is one of the few Kaiju/Mecha I do not own a figure of yet. If this ends up in the 25 inch line, I might pick it up.

As far as the Varan...I will have to wait to see it painted, but at first glance, it appears they're going a tad bit little overboard on the "baggy/dumpy" look, like they did with the recent Rodan figure's wings (the wings just looked terrible and were distracting IMO...they never looked that wrinkled in the film) and the droopy Showa MG 25 inch figure. Hopefully the painted version will look better...

I actually really like the crinkles and suit wrinkles. Its not like they went totally aluminium-foil with Varan. Nothing wrong with looking like a suit.

Moguera surprisingly lacks any of those. Still looks nice. The 13 cm Rose Biollante is amazing.

Again, it's not that big of a deal and isn't noticeable on display, but that doesn't mean it's okay to get a defect figure. I'll see what Hobby Search wants to do.

Damn, sorry about that, man...if you're like me, you'll fixate on that and get mad everytime you look at it. I hope HS takes care of you.

I thought I'd give everyone a status update on this. I contacted Hobby Search of the defect and showed them the picture. They opened up a new one with my permission, inspected it, and are now sending me that new one in box. Kinda crazy, right? Like...I don't have to send the old one back. So...2 for 1 basically. So props to Hobby Search for taking care of their customers.

I'm pretty certain Mogera is 25cm and I think the baggy look on Varan we're seeing is the folded skin that attaches between his arms and legs, like that of a flying squirrel when it's not "flying". At least, I think that's what it is.

25cm Mogera and 30cm Varan are up for preorder!

Still debating whether to get Varan, considering that I'll be paying for SH MonsterArts Fire Rodan, and Ultra-Act Ultraman (New Edition) around that time as well.

that's a bit less than what most of the 30cm figures have been selling for (with exception of smaller figures in the 30cm scale like mothra, manda, etc.). The exchange rate of course is making it look bad, not the actual retail price.

Anyway, if varan is late July, I'm guessing the spider (i hate spiders) will be in sept with the king ghidorah in Dec, as i surmised earlier this year.

yeah it's 30cm. definite purchase for me.

btw, does anyone have side-by-side comparisons of the 30cm mosu-goji and the 25cm one? i've got the 25cm ric boy exclusive coming in but not sure if i want to keep it or not since i already have the 30cm, which i really like.

Varan is a tough purchase for me as was the Manda, which I didn't buy.
I mean on one hand I want all the DAM characters, but Varan is hardly in the movie and Manda is the wrong version.
Maybe X-Plus will release the '68 Manda later?

I have both G64 versions and can try to post a picture later.

The 30cm Manda and the 30cm MechaGodzilla are Bargain Deals on Hobby Search right now, $115 and $147 respectively.
However, I'm still not getting them. Never been a fan of Manda, and I already have the 25cm MechaGodzilla.

I like Varan because he is the only kaiju that I don't have a figure of, and he's been a personal favorite of mine. That's why I really wanted him.

Damn. Now I feel ripped off when I bought my MechaG off there at the pre-order price. 30cm Manda is tempting, but I think I'll stick to the 25cm line so I can save myself some cash. Hence why I'll skip on the Varan as well, even though it looks to be a great figure.

Moguera....hmmm. I don't really care about Moguera to be honest, but I might pick it up just to keep my collection going. I have a feeling he might be able to be found for cheap later on like the 30cm MechaG is. Nobody really cares about Moguera, right?

After the 30cm Godzilla 1989 and Varan, I will be sticking to the 25cm line.

I just wish that more interesting kaiju will be released later this year in the 25cm line instead of robotic monsters like Gigan, MechaGodzilla, and Mogera - the first two I have and love, but I have no interest in Mogera whatsoever.

I'm anticipating for a 25cm Titanosaurus or King Seesar in the future.
