regardless... I still lost hope in this project. I am not saying it's gonna be canned, or it's stuck in development hell... but I will say that it seems like Legendary just doesn't CARE...

I feel like you can't really judge how a corporation which has its hands in a variety of products views one particular project when no news whatsoever has been released.

I'd say LP shit-canning the one screenwriter who said in an interview that "Godzilla is pretty basic, straight forward monster movie stuff" is a good indication that they do care about what they're producing is a quality product.

This whole business deal was leaked atleast a year early. Easily. It's what has aggravated everyone getting impatient more then anything.

I just posted this in the other thread, For people who haven't seen this yet Gareth Edward's also said

So from what i gather, There waiting.. For what exactly is unknown possibly approval from Legendary an Toho on the script? If that's in fact the case a release date within the next 2 or 3 month's is not out of the question.

Pardon me for asking, but how long do you think big budgeted movies take to be casted, set, filmed, scored, edited, and marketed?

Anyways, at least the project isn't dead, but it sure is taking a while. I don't blame them though. Godzilla is a hot property and with Toho breathing down Legendary's necks, it certainly will take time for things to get on the right track with script, character design, and whatnot. I am still anticipating a 2013 or 2014 release for GODZILLA.

I hope that is the case and it does get approved soon. Im litterally starting to pull my hair out waiting for any bit of detail from this movie. I need more info!!!!! >.<

Well im glad he explained what had been going on for the last year and that we are at the waiting point which means all that is needed is approval and things will pick up full steam. Thats a plus.

Im just puzzled why bloodydisgusting was the only one who posted that extra stuff when comicbookmovie.com and dreadcentral didnt. SFX posted that the had meeting with Toho but that was it

atleast it adds more detail to what is going on right now which is what we have been wanting

I agree. When a movie gets rushed into production, its never a good thing.

I wouldn't say that those that are a bit frustrated are being overly negative. The film has been announced for over two years and we have only received a few news snippets and nothing really substantial outside of a chosen director. There are many films who make much faster progress on production, and these are from studios handling multiple high profile blockbusters.

Don't get me wrong, I would much rather have a well produced film that takes years to make than a rushed job that further damages the franchise. However, I can understand the frustration that some people have.

The more I think about the movie, the more I see it getting released in 2014 or later. This year seems unreasonable with the amount of time it takes to put together a movie, and 2013 might not be the best year with Legendary Pictures putting Pacific Rim out (in July last I heard). 2014 is also Godzilla's 60th so that might be something Legendary can take advantage of in terms of marketing.

I see some reason for people to get annoyed by the lack of news. After all, we have heard very little news in the past year or two. I admit I was getting frustrated by the lack of information, but this little tibdit renews my interest and hope for this film. They ARE working on it, but it's just coming very slowly. But it does sound like now they're gonna start moving ahead and really get working on the film, atleast that's how I interpret this news. Feeling good.

Same here, although not told in a direct manner, it seems that the script is finally done and as stated, they are painfully waiting for Approval from Toho.

That's what we're waiting on, that's what Gareth meant when he said that he hopes that we'll have some news soon. We're all waiting at the finish line, Toho just needs to finish the final lap and meet us there.

I hope so too, if the script is done and going through the approval process with Toho then we probably won't get anything until mid Summer.

My thoughts exactly. i assume thats what Edwards means when he says that he hopes to have some proper news soon. Hes hoping that the script is apporved that way they can announce what they need to and start getting to work right away on it. If it gets approved then I am expecting to hear something around comic con
