I think GMK had the right idea of having Godzilla be the threat and the enemy kaiju going against him, not really concerning themselves with the threat they pose while battling. GXM was good too because both monsters posed a threat and the human characters wanted to extinguish them altogether.

Villain and than becomes anti-hero after inadvertently saving humans from monsters(read that Godzilla will fight more than one monster) who try to destroy them.

I think it's time for godzilla to be a hero again. I mean we cheer for him anyway, so why not cheer for him as a good guy?

I would like for him to be an anti-hero where he'll destroy the city but will fight the villan when he has to.

If this film ends up with only Godzilla as the monster throughout, then, in my opinion, he should be a villain. While the vast majority of the sequels are light-hearted, some even having WTF moments, I think by reintroducing the monster as villain, the American public at least, will probably take the monster seriously, kind of in the lines of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Oh it's no bitchfest to say general audiences will never see Godzilla like Batman.

Making Godzilla a hero in this film might have appeal, not to mention commercial drawing power.

Godzilla should just be neutral, like he was in the Heisei series

Yeah that way we can have scenes like a crowd of terrified people cheer for Godzilla after killing the other monster, thinking Godzilla saved them only to be roasted by Godzillas breath :g2k: :g2k:

First up no babies, that was so freaking annoying in GINO, Next up the radiation of Godzilla homeless must have a real large affect on building, people, etc.), do what this dude^ said, and have like after an attack. News everywhere, and the military on high alert most likely in coastal cities...maybe in a news report, have them show damage of what Godzilla had done to a city(cities)... Make him so dangerous, missles will fall off Godzilla as if it was a toothpick thrown at a tank.

I like the idea of the toxic/radioactive blood, similar to what was seen in the Dark Horse comics.

One idea that has grown on me is the idea of Godzilla's healing capabilities. Think: not only do the artillery attacks spread Godzilla's radioactive blood, they also have no LASTING damage on the monster. Basically they just end up with loads of toxic materials all over the place and a pissed off giant dinosaur.

Another thing is that while Godzilla should pose a great potential threat, the monster he fights should be even WORSE. Something that is a more immediate threat to the world like Hedorah or Destoroyah. More importantly, something that helps to turn Godzilla into more of an anti-hero or a necessary evil.

I think in terms of aggressiveness, Godzilla shouldn't as much act as REACT. It could be like Godzilla vs. Mothra where he is wandering through the countryside, not actively attacking. Most of the damage is caused just by him WALKING (he is huge...and clumsy). The real damage doesn't begin until he gets in a fight with the military and/or the other monster. On the other hand, the enemy monster should be much more aggressive and volatile. Basically a vile engine of destruction that actively seeks out population centers to attack

Parasites would be nice. I think I've seen that be used even in a Godzilla comic, I can't remember.
But looking back at the 1954 film, it would be nice if the put more emphasis on the contamination or radioactive fallout and kind of do that whole "representing the atom bomb" take they went for back in the 50's. Or even a mix of the parasites and radiation. hmm...Somehow, I can see those two working out and then they add in something new that we might not have thought of before. Would really like a little surprise from something new. Guess that just adds more fun to the anticipation. :D

I think that your thinking of the comic adaptation of The Return of Godzilla, was it a scene where a bunch of parasites attack a guy in a boat?

This is just me, but I had the idea that Godzilla is not dangerously radioactive externally, but it is his blood that is atomically unstable and toxic. Same goes for his atomic breath.

Perhaps a parasitic creature could feed off of Godzilla and grow to kaiju size?

Actually, I remember now. While I was thinking of The Return of Godzilla, not the comic but the film, the comic I was thinking of was Dark Horse's where the characters studying Godzilla were climbing him to place some kind of transmitter or something and in the process were attacked by parasites, think they looked like some kind of centipedes or something.
Looking at the book now, yeah they were placing electrodes behind his ear and they were attacked by sea lice or the Shockirus I believe. But it was by Dark Horse.

This makes me think of the dead centipede like creature people have been describing from the new trailer

What personality do you want for the Big G?

Postby Connor » Thu Dec 27, 2012 11:50 am

Considering that LP is really bent on a darker and edgier Godzilla, why not give him a darker and edgier personality?

My prediction: Godzilla, at the very least, will be a serious anti-hero. He may fight for the good guys, but he isn't much of a good guy himself; the only reason he'd conceivably help the humans out with the antagonist(s) is because of mutual interests. Enemy Mine and all that. Throughout the course of the story, he does some really nasty stuff, almost on the level of the villain, in order to see judgment delivered. He will brutalize, torture, intimidate, and humiliate if it means the bad guy will go down. And frankly, he won't give a skreonk.

To sum up with a trope: a sociopathic hero.
