GxM Godzilla is the most durable. Tanking black holes says enough. Even if he didnt actually tank them, he still withstod the destructive effects of the Dimension Tide.

Sorry I didn't mean durable in that way. I was referring to his hide's durability. Which is impressive... even among Godzillas.

GMK had good reviews by critics outside Japan, so it does have an appealing quality. It's a good film.

Did it get good reception in Japan too?

Yes, it did. From what I understand, it did better the weeks following the opening thanks to positive word of mouth.

IMO, GMK was pointing the franchise in the right direction. Would of loved to have seen another film or two from that team of people.

Agreed. Too bad we didn't.

Having Baragon alone might have carried the film, but KG alone would have garunteed it.

The guardian monsters are a bit weak, I wish they had made them powerful like in the HEisie series so it was an epic battle of awesomeness.

Making them really strong would have made no point.

...And for the record, I prefer the GMK battles over many of the Heisei beam-bump tussles.

I like that Godzilla, most incarnations have some battle experience but this one had never fought another monster before and after getting his ass kicked for a while he started to catch on and show some impressive intellect and skills like faking out Megs by pretending to not know she's behind him before using his tail to grab her and throw her or another fake out where he charges at her before ducking at the last second and using his skies to cut one her claws off.

It's about time we got a Godzilla that uses his spines for cutting and a tail that grabs instead of just clubbing. I also love that unlike most Godzilla's who win by pulling some new power out of his ass or some deus ex machaina like Fire Rodan he won by just pure dumb luck. He was stunned and Megs had him dead to rights but when aiming for his head her aim was off and allowed Godzilla to bite her stinger.

He basically kicked ass despite and having no experience with fighting which made him pretty badass but at the same could still be beaten so he wasn't some god sue character in that film, it made it exciting and a nice change of pace.

I think Baragon looked great I loved his look when he saw Godzilla standing over him.Mothra looks pretty good her design has grown on me.King Ghidorah looks fine except in the mouth.

I kinda wish the film ended with a huge all out battle between Godzilla and the 3 Guardian Monsters.

would of made for an awesome climax IMO

Mothra had a nice update, but her character wasn't that impressive.

King Ghidorah was a disappointment at first. The three headed dragon being a close up brawler just didn't work for me, but the electric bite was a clever allusion to the gravity bolts. Once King Ghidorah had wings, I was satisfied. King Ghidorah as a hero was unexpected, and it didn't fit the characters perceptions. The monster did work as a hero, though. I just hope it's the only hero outting for King Ghidorah.

So... GVKG does not count as another hero outing for King Ghidorah since MKG is pretty much KG in a futuristic body?
