Being stupid just might be what this film excels at...besides I like boats...and the alien designs look badass.

Director Peter Berg talks about learning from Kevin Costner about the do's and don'ts of filming on the high seas.

The reviews for the movie are in and the best thing about the film that it's mindless action. I still want to see this movie for laughs though.

Okay so what's up with giant alien snake-things trying to take over the planet the last few years

The movie already made 200 million worldwide. You can bet that a sequel is likely to happen at some point in the next few years.

^ Transformers, The Avengers, now this, it looks similar with the Space ships.

I dont have high hopes in this movie to be the "best" and such but it seems like a really fun
one.

Snakes, tentacles are scary for one. Especially if your a girl in an anime. Ever since H.G. Wells, octopoid invaders seem to be a perferred choice of sci-fi.

What? no, No, NO!

I swear, if this becomes a big hit, then The Mayans were probably right about December...

Good news about that. They found a new mayan calander.
Apparently SWTOR said that I can invite 25 people for a 7 day trial of the game. PM me if interested.

And besides that, the December prophecy was way off, the Mayans never had leap years

Saw the preview in all its glory prior to the Avengers. The fact that it tries so hard to be Transformers WITHOUT Transforming Robots is pathetic (same sound effects, similiar alien mechs, and weapons etc...). This is truly an example of "Lets see how much money we can make with a mindless CG crapfest!"

If Avengers in its 3rd week can at least styfle somewhat the profits of this film, then I will retain some faith in humanity. I will not be seeing this film. No, not at all.

Trust me, with how much The Avengers made in its second weekend (yet another $100 million), there's no way Battleship will beat it next weekend.

I still wanna see this movie, but only with my friends. It just looks so fantastically riffable.

Well the movie did came out in other countries before it was released in the US. They only spend 30 million on marketing on the film, I doubt the movie is going to bomb like John Carter did.

Saw it, loved it.

The movie did not try to be serious, didn't even pretend to be serious. It's just a big celebration of stupid, mindless fun. Put a big ol' smile on my face. Lots of simple brilliance, and I really liked the aliens. Besides having an interesting design, they seemed like a bit more than the typical invader. I liked that some had different builds and looked to be more like scientists or explorers than conquerors.

Got back from it about an hour ago. Was awesome. I had a big, stupid grin on my face for the entire "Thunderstruck" sequence. So glorious.

Also, anyone that sees this movie and doesn't like it is a damn Commie bastard. Just sayin'.

I'm not gonna see this in theaters, but if I catch on TV one night, I might watch it.

Might.

Y'know, that gets me thinking...do people like Alan Moore, who hates movies made of their books, accidentally watch them on cable some night? Like, he's flipping through the channels, and he happens on something that looks good, so he watches it for a bit...then V -pops out and Moore goes, "Oh, Hell..."

I originally thought this would be shitty, figuring it would try to take itself super seriously, but hearing it doesn't take itself seriously makes it sound much more appealing.

I don't expect it to overtake Avengers but I think it'll actually do pretty well.

The movie already made over 200 million worldwide. The Avengers will likely take the #1 spot again on it's 3rd week though.

Saw Battleship yesterday. It was a lot of fun. Much like several people have already said, I had a big stupid grin for a lot fo parts of the movie.
