Soundtrack Speculation (Composer, Songs, Godzilla Theme)

Re: Should the movie have Godzilla's theme song?

Yeah, the original 1954 one was kind of fast, like how Jason Voorheese's is, which is okay for a movie where Godzilla was the bad guy, but it really does not stand up to the theme Godzilla had in Godzilla Versus Mothra, which sounds heavy and powerful as well as menacing. Then there is the goofy sounding music they play when Godzilla shows up in the later Showa films etc.

...So playing an Ifukube theme once in a film keeps it from being fresh? I don't think anyone here wants the entire score to be recycled Ifukube.

I agree that having the theme in the film is nonessential, though. I just hope that the original score kicks ass, and doesn't suck like Oshima or later Sato.

I never said it would prevent tasty freshness. I said we NEED something fresh and Ifukube's theme doesn't deliver in that department at this point. I think if they have an entirely original score and then, out of nowhere, Ifukube's theme plays, it would just take me out of the moment. They don't need to throw us a bone like that.

If they decide to remix the theme song or make a new theme should they at least make it like a Godzilla type music so it won't be like P Diddy song to the 1998 film?

With the current trend in music, we might get a dubstepped remix( as long as it is NOT that Transformers-orgy-sounding brostep type, i probably wouldn't mind)

I just hope they don't have moderen day hip pop in this movie, it would be a very bad descision. What would be more horrible if they get Justin Bieber to sing it.

I think it would be cool to hear versions of Goji's theme by someone like John Williams or James Horner.

Maybe like a revamped version of it. Not the original Ifukube score, though.

I'd love to hear the Ifukube score at the end credits like in GMK.

I think something like that would be nice. Kow Otoni's soundtrack was powerful and fresh, with the seemingly demonic version of Godzilla having its own theme, separate from what had come before. Then they played the stuff at the end that reminded you that it was a Godzilla movie even though the origins of the Gaurdian monsters did not connect with any of the previous film incarnations. Then again, I did enjoy the new theme that was made for Godzilla in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. It kind of reminded me of that theme that was played in Princess Mononoke, during the parts where the black/purple evil stuff was on the rampage.

Michael Giacchino listen to his scores for the 2009 reboot of Star Trek & Cloverfield and besides I think he'd make an interesting composer for a Godzilla ffilm

I might've mentioned this earlier, but the score was by far my favorite part of the new Star Trek. If Giacchino could bring the same sense of grandeur to a G-flick, consider me 100% on-board.

I can't say who I'd want, but I can say who I wouldn't want: Danny Elfman.

It'd be cool if they got Akira Yamaoka.

But that's never gonna happen so I don't know but like NSZ said not Danny Elfmen.

I'm getting a hilarious image of Williams having musical farts.

But(ha) with that said, yeah definitely John. Dude just keeps on making epic music scifi epics to superhero epic to action and adventure epics to the best musical score to date involving dinosaurs... Until Pixar's upcoming dinosaur movie gives it a run for its money. :P

But yeah I want him OR.... The dude who did the opening music for Godzilla the animated series. That was a pretty epic theme.
