So do you have money right now to help make the game, or are you just using donation money?

The entire game will be funded by us, the fans. This has been covered extensively in the topic..

So, this game will be made with (most likely) a lot less money? Well, if so that kinda stinks.

Depends how much the fans are willing to donate. Want a good game? Pay up. :P

Im replying to a old post but, Simon asked if we need to show wins and losses in online matches, I think you should only show wins, and total battles fought in, because what if you lost to some cheater/hacker? plus it can be a bit embarrising

Yes, this game will be made for significantly less money. This is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Atari's games required a huge up-front investment of ~15 Million dollars. That's a big risk, but the potential earnings are also huge, so investors (like Toho, who provides the license) want a lot of money up-front.

This game doesn't need to make a dime - because the production money is all donated, not an investment which is paid back in cash. So we don't need any marketing at all. It's going to be distributed digitally, so there are no manufacturing, shipping, or warehouse costs. It's not sold through retail stores, so there is no 30% retail mark-up for customers to pay. It's built on existing technology, so instead of 40 people making the game, we'll only need about 10. We're releasing on PC, so there are no licensing fees to pay.

You'll get a game which is better than the past games (in most respects) for much less money all around - and no risk. This is very much the future competition to huge multi-million-dollar games, and it's why so many publishers are sweating bullets.

I personally think we'll get a lot in donations. Godzilla has a 50 year history, a star on the walk of fame, a comic series, a huge studio film in development, millions of fans (you guys are nuts if you think G-Fest/TK is the ONLY place where Godzilla fans are), etc. The list goes on. I think we'll be fine :)

Do you honestly think that websites like Gamespot, IGN, Kotaku, AICN.com, FilmThreat.com, Comingsoon.net, etc wouldn't pick up the story that an officially licensed Godzilla game is being made where fans can donate to it's creation? Godzilla crosses the genre line from games to movies and there are LOTS of fans on both sides. All we have to do is make that KickStarter page look REALLY good.

And besides, you guys all know me from the work I've done for this site. I always have an ace up my sleeve :)

Kaiju Power Holders, Kaiju Unlimitted Power, Kaiju Total Takedown, are some more, but my favorite might be Kaiju Combat.

Man, people come up with some really terrible names.

Most of these sound like bad fan-fiction titles.

I know we can count on you to get the word out, Chris. 8-) The only thing I'm worried about are the fans who simply don't care about Godzilla video games, or aren't gamers themselves. Believe it or not, a lot of my friends/G-fest buddies are like this. They "liked" the recent Godzilla games, but may not care enough about a new one to donate. This is my only concern.

I wonder if we'll see any $500 donaters, who are not Godzilla fans, and only want to ensure they can get a penis monster into the game?

Potentially SpacePenis and Mechapenis as well.
