You do remember this was in the 70's? :|

Im fully aware of the asthetics regarding robots and aliens of that era. Im just saying that's what I'd expect in a truly alien machine.

...Except that the examples you gave of aliens are all from something made after MechaGodzilla was created. If you wanted to be fair, only use examples of alien machines that were made before 1974.

Is it just me, or does Mechagodzilla Showa have some kind of Terminator vibe to it? It's designed to kill a specific target, it first appears hidden away in a coating of skin, bits of metal end up showing as the skin layer is damaged, then, after fiery explosion, the robot underneath is shown. Now that I think about it, Mechagodzilla's similarities to the Terminator are kind of creepy.

Must you put "..." infront of everything? No offense, but you sound like a dick when you do that. Anyway I would, but there are not really any that fit what I described. The only thing that comes close is the flying saucers from War of the Worlds. So, please forgive me for sharing my views on alien asthetics

Its probably sheer conicidence.

Why do you care?

But, if you must know why I put "..." in front of a lot of things I say, is because I'm typing like how I would say it. And when I type "...", I'm saying it like there's a pause. Like I'm looking at you with a "Huh?" look on my face, confused by what was just said.

Anyway I would, but there are not really any that fit what I described. The only thing that comes close is the flying saucers from War of the Worlds.

Exactly.

For it's time, MechaGodzilla is just fine in terms of being an alien robot.

Of course it is. Still doesn't change the fact that the resemblance is uncanny. Now... if only they had a disguise using Mechagodzilla instead of King Ghidorah in 1991.

It's amazing how many of these posts don't mention Anguirus, I think Tokyo Vigilante summed it up best when he said that it's a shame that Anguirus is essentially aShowa artifact.

Those Anguirus concept arts look a little weird (With its caparace opening) but it would of been interesting to see
a change for the monster.

What movie in the Heisei series should Anguirus appeared? I think replacing Godzilla Jr. with Anguirus would have worked.

No, it wouldn't have. That doesn't even make sense.

I disagree, Zentenk. A major point in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla was that Godzilla, Rodan, and G-Force were all combating for possession of Baby Godzilla. In Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla, Little Godzilla's imprisonment was a major reason for Godzilla to go after SpaceG; I doubt he would have done that for Angy. I also doubt Junior's role in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, which sort of pivoted on his being Goji's offspring, could have been pulled off by Anguirus.

Yes, you would have to change the movies up a bit, you can't just slap him in there. I hate the idea of Godzilla having a baby, with all the radiation Godzilla should be sterile. Rodan should have ate the egg right there at the camp also.

Just watched the movie and Godzillasaurus isn't even Godzilla's baby. So, how does that egg even get there? There must be more Godzillasaurus on the loose.

You know you need to give a reason why you think Anguirus should have been in or else other members are just gonna point and laugh and then move on and forget. And saying you hate Godzilla's babies (I swear those two words should never be in the same sentence) is not a good reason, all it tells us is you want to replace Junior, it doesn't tell us why you think Anguirus would work in his place.

Junior is adopted and so is Minlla.

No seriously.

Zentenk, there was probably a time when I would have been distracted by a point like this too. However, I now understand that Godzilla was never intended to be grounded in hard facts and science. The franchise is arguably as much fantasy as it is sci-fi: when you try to rationalize and explain every unusual occurrence, it takes out the fun. Some things just need to be taken for granted.

I hope this helps.

Anguirus could easily have been in G vs MG 2, taking the place of Rodan.

Okay, I could see that being done. I'm not sure how I would feel about that, though; I prefer Rodan.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Anguirus being in place of Moguera in Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla. Granted, the script would need to have a major rewrite in order for Anguirus' role to fit, but I wouldn't have minded seeing Godzilla and Anguirus going up against Spacegodzilla.

A baby Anguirus hatches out of the egg and Godzilla raises him, then when Godzilla dies due to meltdown, Anguirus follows in his footsteps starring in his own movie.

Anguirus vs Mecha Anguirus could be one of them.
