The mosu-goji used to be my favorite gigabrain sculpt. KG now owns that ranking in my view, by far. Been slacking a bit with gigabrain though as I've concentrated more on acquiring pilot ace and MH figures over the years. I've only got the mosu-goji, gigan, and KG molds from gigabrain (and godzilla 65 came in on Monday, making 4). But I love the KG a lot...I think I'm going for the other variants as well.

You know, it's funny, but awhile ago in the Xplus thread, I mentioned that Xplus would be very hard to top this GB figure. In response, Brad Simmons told me that he didn't think the GB King Ghidorah was all that great because it was just a retooling of the original Bandai 8 inch KG ( :eh: :-? "HUH?" was my and several other people's reaction). Now that we have see your KG group photo which has the Bandai and GB figures together, I wonder if he still holds this viewoint? :huge:

I do. At the very least, it certainly looks like that was the basis for it. No one needs to agree, it's just my opinion. ;-)

Although if Xplus ever did make the GvsGigan KG suit (I don't think any company ever has), then I would definitely be interested...

There was a person who said they could see both sides of the argument, so not everyone disagrees 100% with my perspective but that's neither here nor there. I think that when X-Plus puts out a King Ghidorah, it's going to blow everything else out of the water (minus garage kits of course). I think their resin statue from years ago is a good indication of what's to come. However, perspective is everything on this. If you like more retro looking, stylized figures, then of course one might prefer the Gigabrain over X-Plus. Personally, I like realism but that's just my own personal taste when collecting.

One person...other than that, I don't think anyone honestly feels that the GB figure is a mere "re-tooling" of Bandai's figure...other than the fact they're both gold and have 3 heads :P

As for the rest of your argument...the Xplus Hedorah figure sure as hell didn't blow away the GB Hedorah figure...not even close actually, and several of their Godzilla figures (G67 and G73) paled in comparison to their "stylized" Marmit counterparts. Likewise, their recent showa MG figures were *very* lackluster (their 30 cm in particular is bad...looks like MG is doing the splits) and both Bandai and Marmit's figures were better. Sorry, but Xplus will need to do a balls against the wall, bang up job if they're going top this GB figure. But as you said, it's neither here nor there...to each their own. Personally, I like Xplus and have several of their figures (though they're very inconsistent at times). I hope you're right...in my opinion, the more great showa KG figures we have out there, the better

As far as my tastes....I don't care what company makes it (I don't have any "company loyalty" BS when it comes to collecting), nor do I get hung up on styles...be it "realistic" or "stylized" (I've noticed that people are *really* getting hung up on this lately and feel they must only collect one or the other.). I just always go with the best "figure" of a particular kaiju, regardless of company or style. I have several Xplus figures along with Bandais/Marmits/Gigabrains/Marusans/Banpresto/Tendmasters....I love my rag-tag collection. 8-)

Well, with any line there are going to be hits and misses. I never said everything X-Plus has done has been better than everything else that's ever been made. I also don't necessarily see this as an argument as much as I do an exchange of personal opinions, ones that don't agree. As I tried to explain earlier, "better" is subjective. It really depends on a person's individual taste. For me, an X-Plus King Ghidora will always be "better" than a Gigabrain KG hands-down but that's just because of my own personal taste and what I find appealing. And as much as you say it isn't, I still do personally believe there is a strong resemblance to the Bandai King Ghidora of the 80's.

I know this is a spotlight thread on Gigabrain figures. My intent is not to come in here and disrespect anyone's opinion of them. If I have, then I apologize. I simply saw a question asked of me and wanted to give my honest answer to it.

Haha, no prob ;) No worries and nothing to apologize for....to each their own (though you're still completely off on the Bandai figure comparison :P ). I'm not going to nerdrage someone just because they don't like a certain figure I do (*ahem* SH Monster Arts fans *ahem*), although I will debate them. By the way, I would love to see either Gigabrain or Xplus do a Gabara figure *drools*...

I don't know why you still don't realise there's a difference between atacking and criticising a figure- which noone ot offended about back when you werely stating the flaws of the figures- and attacking and rridiculing the people who enjoy the figures and their decisions.

Hey ebirahsmeg1 sorry but even as a Gigabrain KG owner I gotta agree with Brad, the X-Plus is gonna be a world-ender at any price. The Unifive/Xplus Usa resin is nice, but I expect a huge step forward to the Asai Ghidorah or beyond with this figure. Again I LOVE the Gigabrain. Its a great figure that nails the character its going for with just enough art/quirk mixed in. The Marmit varient I got is also great at this. Much smaller sculpt, but good, and a better paint scheme in my opinion. But for me, I value accurate representations above all. This is why to me, Bandai has fallen way by the wayside; while it was the series throughout my youth, it dosent have the charm of a marmit or gigabrain, or the photo realism of an X-Plus. Again, X-Plus has had poor moments. 25cm G '67, Megalon, 30cm G '92 & GMK G are just a few examples that jump to mind as dissapointments to me. But more often than not, for me, it is a marmit or gigabrain that just misses the boat to me. I do love that there are so many varients, odds are at least one will appeal to me, you dont get that option with X-plus. But they are at a near 90% success rate with me. The 30cm Godzillas are all for the most part abso-freakin'-lutely gorgeous, museum quality figs. The Gargantuas, Baragon, Manda, Rodan, and Hedorah have no peers either. The latest development? Great sculpts in the 25cm line (Gigan and MG). Gigabrain and Marmit will earn many of my dollars, but X-Plus is king right now. Thats how I see it.

I'll post my thoughts in much more detail on this topic at some point in the Xplus thread (I don't want to turn a GB thread into a "vs Xplus" discussion as neither side will ever convince the other and is a waste of time...however, I feel many fans are getting *WAY* too hung up on the silly "realistic vs stylized" debate recently, especially on the TK forums as collectors on CT don't seem as hung up on this. It seems as if I am being branded as a "stylized" collector...nonsense, as I really could care less about styles as I collect whatever figure I think best represents a kaiju...it just so happens that more often than not, the stylized figures win out vs the so called "realistic" figures), but I couldn't disagree more...they're extremely *inconsistent* and *not* just a "few" misses as you claim and are far below the "90%" rate you are touting (Just one quick example, the 25 inch MG you are praising flat out sucks imo...he leg pose makes him look slouched over and extremely dumpy...the 30 inch MG is even worse with his "splits" pose. Finally, your claiming that their Hedorah figure along with a few others "have no peers" is also way off the mark. Again, I will get into more detail later in the XPlus thread). For the insanely high prices they charge (double/triple/quadruple the price of even the most expensive Bandais/Marmits/GBs), I expect these things to be near perfect everytime...and they often fall short and are extremely overrated. It's a shame, since I live in Japan, I can get these things far cheaper than collectors in America (though still expensive), and I really want to love this line, I really do (I own several Xplus as well...hey, I love "realistic" figures as much as the next collector), but their inconsistencies do not justify the high prices for me to take the plunge regularly.

I have *never* said that an Xplus KG could not top this GB one...however, I did say they would be hard pressed to do so and it's not going to be a cake walk (even several XPlus fans and collectors have admitted this) and would have to really hit it out of the park and make a near flawless figure (for which I am sure they will charge $300-400 for it as well)....And I stand by that assessment.

Gigabrain should make a Biollante. I consider Biollante to be easily the most impressive X-Plus figure/sculpt I've seen, and I'd like to see what Gigabrain could do with it. Granted, I already think the Marmit Monster Heaven Standard looks pretty amazing and really want one.
Now it's dark...

Personally, I'd like to see GB do a figure that hasn't been done...

That's one of the reasons why Marmit is so great; they do figs of kaiju that don't get much love.

As long as GB continues to put out the "safest" figures possible they will continue to be lacking for myself...

Agreed...I remember how excited I was years ago when Marmit revealed they were doing Space Godzilla as their next MH figure...and then I saw it, and it was one of the worst, ugliest figures I'd ever laid eyes on...would love to see either Marmit (or GB) redo this particular kaiju sometime...

Marmit's Monster Heaven line didn't include a Jet Jaguar, or a 1965 Godzilla, or the Monster X or a Zone Fighter. A huge version of King Ghidora - which has ended up being one of the most talked about figures I've seen in years - is certainly not something "safe" either.

Are you and RedZillaKing the same guy? Sometimes it seems like it. I love Marmit too, but this "Marmit has no equal" shtick is pretty weird, since it's making both of you say things that just don't make any sense.

Excuse me... what? Ghidorah's about as safe as they come.

Yeah, but good luck getting Cap to admit it. He's easily the most stubborn of my personalities.

Would you like us to say "Bandai and Gigabrain rule" after every post so you don't have to cry yourself to sleep? Fine, but I'll mean Bandai/Tamashii when I say it.

Anyway as far as Gigabrain figures go I'm hoping for Titanosaurus next. Unless I can actually find the Marmit one.
