I got my X-Plus 25cm Gigan yesterday. Was surprised that it took less than a week to get here, but I guess that's one of the advantages of living on Guam - being a skipping stone away from Japan!

Anyways, since I am quite new to collecting X-plus figures, any suggestions one what figures I should get in the future?
I already have the upcoming 30cm Godzilla 1989 on preorder,

For people looking to get in on this line....

It's a great line, but unless you want to go broke, you can't be a completionist. You have to accept the fact that you can't get older figures really. Be happy with the ones you can get.

Luckily these figures hold their value if you ever decide to sell as well. Which is one of the reasons I really like it. I can buy these expensive figures and not feel too bad about it if I decide I don't want the figure or whatever. Because worst case scenario, I can always make my money back.

And as another stated, yes on Skreeonk I have my 30cm MechaG and Goji 92.

I consider myself lucky I acquired the 25cm Gigan when I did because they all sold out on Hobby Search the other day.
You're right in that it's a bit of an uphill battle when trying to acquire older figures in this line. I'd rather wait and buy the newer figures as they come out than hunt down the older ones. However, I will not object if I do stumble across an older figure that happens to be within my price range.

Not a bad price for this X-Plus Gorosaurus if you need one ($399)

What you get depends on what you want. Do you want to collect based on scale, favorites or exclusives? I buy based on how I imagine myself looking back 10 years from now. Will I look back and kick myself for not picking up the figure? If yes then I pay up.

I collect what I want, and what I can afford. For me, buying the 25cm figures and the occasional 30cm figure is all I can work with right now on my budget - essentially nothing over $250 for me. However when it comes to X-Plus I'll only go with kaiju who I favor such as Gigan (which I now have). In the future I can only hope for a Showa King Ghidorah release in either their 25cm or 30cm lines.

I used to only collect the 30cm line. But now I mainly collect the 25cm line, with a rare occasional 30cm figure. Ideally I'd like to have everything in the same scale, but sometimes there's characters I really like in the 30cm that I just don't want to pass up. And like I said earlier, if I decide the 30cm character wasn't worth the money, it's no problem selling it and making my money back.

Knowing what X-Plus is going to release ahead of time, way ahead of time, would have helped me collect. I think how the 30cm Hedorah matches with the 25cm G is smart, and I can't help but think that the Ghidorh, when released, will be in scale with the 25cm figures, not the 30cm figures. Though they just released the majority of the DAM lineup in 30cm scale? Again, it would help to know X-Plus's plans well in advance.

Got a notice today saying my Jet Jaguar order has been cancelled since they found out they actually don't have it anymore. That's too bad, but eh. I can live without Jet Jaguar.

If I really want one I could grab one for a similar price with the recent Jet Jaguar/Goji 73 reissue sets going around. Does anyone have this set? Kinda curious if anyone likes that reissue of the Goji 73. The first release seemed better to me?

I've got the set. I posted some a link to some pics earlier in this thread of the '73 Goji from the set vs the Internet exclusive G'73 from before. Slightly different pose, but the paint job is also different and better IMO on the new set.

Another monster post...

Got the Rodan and MG 74 in. Love them both. Rodan is great, thought the beak would be open but its closed, but its fantastic anyway. Great detail, you dont even notice the wings when he's standing there. Unfortunately I am having trouble keeping him upright. Suggestions fellow owners?

MG is also fantastic. Jaw is a separate piece but wont close. Also tough to keep the chest plate at a straight angle like in the movie. But the sculpt and pose, and articulation points are perfect, better than the 30cm counterpart. If we could switch the 25cm sculpts of MG and Gigan with the 30cm they would instantly become top shelf figures. As it is the 30's arent bad...but these are better.

GreenAiden, I know I used a show exclusive to highlight my point...but what i was trying to say is that they are basically all exclusives (albeit on a larger scale). Once an item like the G55 in either scale is out of print THATS IT. There might be a reissue in the future but they will either change the paint, mold, or vinyl color. I would love to see production numbers on these things...

Also Brad, you are crazy! Two Kiryus! What does it mean!? Haha. If you happen to end up passing on the weapons version you may have a buyer here...just need to see more pictures I think, and if I still have the cash ahaha.

Drunken Kong & Cimmerian Dragon, I have unfortunately become a completionist. It is possible, just dont buy anything else.

GCrusher, The 30cm Hedorah is in scale with the 30cm Godzilla. It dwarfs the 25cm G71. However, the 25cm Hedorah does fit in well with the 30cm G68. Whew. That was a mouthful.

and Qaenos, I still owe you those pictures! You still need them? Im sorry I totally forgot.

True. At this point I pretty much am only buying X-Plus figures now. Maybe some else here and there, but mostly it's just X-Plus or nothing. You can be a completionist, but man...those old releases go up in price so much, and it's hard to find them with many dealers outside of ebay, which is always going to have the highest prices.

Also, glad to hear that the 25cm MechaG is an improvement. I got the 30cm, but it just wasn't doing it for me, so I ordered the 25cm hoping it would be better. The 30cm would always tip on me if it was on it's stand. And when it's off it's stand, it leans too far back. The thing I hate most about X-Plus figures is when they're unbalanced.

See, I couldn't do that. I like X-Plus' work, but I certainly don't like it better than every other manufacturer. They've released plenty of sculpts that blow me away, but also some that really turned me off. They hit more than they miss, but the misses still happen (in my opinion).

I'd hate to look back at my collection in 10 years, and see none of the excellent Bandai, Marmit, M1, Gigabrains, etc... represented because I put all my chips on one line. Of course, I'm not a completionist in general. If any of these companies make something I don't really care for, I'm not going to buy it. I just pick and choose the best, or what I feel are the best, products from each.

For me the X-Plus 30cm godzilla showa figures are the current day equivalent of the 8" showa bandais, in the respect that I'm collecting the whole line. Right now I'm only missing the 30cm anguirus 55.

anyway, took this pic on monday

Since we're sharing. I prefer the 30cm line and the way I collect is...

I'll buy any 30cm monster. The only criteria is that is has to tie back to a Godzilla movie. So I didn't buy Magma but I did buy the Gargantuas. I only buy the 25cm figures if they haven't done a 30cm version first. So, I bought Ebirah, Jet Jaguar, Megalon, etc. but will unload those if they ever make 30cm versions. I only have two Godzillas... a 1954 & 1964. I will likely buy a 1968 version eventually but that's all I want of the Gs. Gotta cut back somewhere and for me, limiting the number of Godzillas I buy is how I do it.

The 30cm figures are awesome. I thought the 9" and 10" scale figures were it, until this X-Plus line came out.
I prefer the 30cm line but can't pull the trigger on the 30cm 1955 G and Anguilus, because I think the X-Plus smaller scale figures look better. Especially the when comparing the '55 G.

Bored so I'm taking it out on all of you haha.

To me part of the appeal of this series is that it is a series. Really its like a wine of the month club, the announcement comes out, you make a reservation and you get your stuff in a month or two after. They generally make their deadlines, Biollante being the exception, and they are really are a roll since the horrid G67. My main complaint...no 25cm line! Though the prices would have been worse, I would have preferred all those unique sculpts in 30 cm. I bet overall that it would have been cheaper in the long run with the double dips eliminated.

So far we are missing from Showa:
G '64 b (would love the MM28 version)
G '65/'66 (ditto)
G '72 (different enough to warrent a figure? possible 25cm)
G '74/75 (MM28 version/new 30cm sculpt)

Mogera
King Kong (pipe dream but hey who knows)
Frankenstein (25 cm)
Kamacuras
Mechani-Kong (maybe number 1 on my list, 30cm please!)
Gabara
King Seesar
Titanosaurus (30cm!)

Did I miss any? I think Varan, Kumonga, and King Ghidorah are all but guarenteed for the 30cm DAM lineup.

And I hope the resin thing dosent become a habit. Though we'll see after I have Kiryu in hand...

Once you amass more of a collection, you might take back what you said about no 25cm line. I don't got space for all this 30cm sh!t!
