Favorite Godzilla Toy Manufacturer

Postby RedZillaKing » Wed Apr 25, 2012 9:14 am

We seem to have a lot of different types of fans on this subforum and I thought I'd be a little nosey and ask.

Also, please forgive me if I make a mistake. For instance, I've heard that Gigabrain is related to Marmit.

Trendmasters.

I don't know why, but I love the stylized look of the monsters that were done by this line. Not SUPER CRAZY stylized, but stylized enough that they look cool. And nostalgia... that helps a bit too.

I need to buy more TMs.

You have one listed as Bandai/Tamashii wouldnt that just all go into the Bandai one since they're a part of Bandai?

Anyways for me its Bandai and Trendmasters hands down. Bandai has been the Main supplier of G-toys and Trendmasters was a big part of me becoming a fan as a little kid. They're both the only ones i really collect

Love both! Bandai should make some Godzilla toys like their Power Rangers toys in stores just like Trendmasters used to

Nah. Bandai/Tamashii is different. Bandai refers to the various vinyl lines whilst B/T is referring to the high end collector lines.

I can only pick 1? Damn

Well anyway Bandai is my overall favorite, with Trendmasters and Bandai/Tamashii being second and third.

I have a feeling I'll love Gigabrain when I get figures from them, and I like my Pilot Aces a lot, but I have to vote Marmit. I have quite a few of their figures now and love them all, and they make the most figures that are on my "want list." Compared to Pilot Ace and Gigabrain, they also offer a significantly wider array of monsters and figure styles.

Marmit is awesome and I vastly prefer them to Bandai. The sculpts are usually pretty awesome and they have the balls to put out monsters Bandai wont even touch. Where's the Bandai Varan? Or Ebirah? Manda?

Yeah, I've got to go with Marmit. I wish I could vote for Bandai as well, since they have given me so many years of great product, and a lot of small masterpieces in that time. But, at this moment in my collecting life, Marmit is far more likely to excite me with something.

Bandai/Tamashii. I've always been a sucker for posability and highly accurate sculpts, what can I say? Stylized figures and statues aren't my cup of tea.

I just completely boggles my mind that - out of the 40 some-odd years of Godzilla collectibles - a line that's only been around for six months and thus far produced three figures is getting a large percentage of the votes. I voted for Bandai, but for the 30 years and hundreds of vinyls the company has produced for Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman and other franchises, NOT for some brand new line that literally has a segment of the collecting fanbase totally hypnotized.

And can I ask why people keep mentioning Marmit but it's only gotten two votes?

I'm one of the two Marmit votes. RedZillaKing praised the company, but I bet he voted Tamashii. So I guess it's me and CD for the Marmit team? I think Gigabrain is stealing our votes.

I chose Bandai as my top favorite (personally Tamashii Nations is a part of Bandai, so it's kind of moot that it be listed separately).

I chose Bandai because their figures throughout my years of collecting have been the most affordable, and easily accessible figures out there. I miss the standard 8" figures!

The Gigabrain stuff is outstanding, there's no two ways about that. But still, we've gotten a huge, huge assortment of beautiful work under the Marmit banner.

Not really.

If you look at the game company Retro Studios, who made the amazing Metroid Prime trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns, they are owned by Nintendo. Now, if you compare the game quality between what was developed by Retro Studios and that of which was made DIRECTLY by Nintendo, it really is different. Same can be said about ACTIVI$ION and Treyarch/Infinity Ward with Call of Duty. Bandai just owns the company.

Further more, that would be like saying don't credit, say, Green Day for making music that some people enjoy; credit Reprise Records.

Tamashii gets my vote. The company, and other lines made by them, have an AMAZING track record, and the outlook for the MonsterArts line looks great. I would, personally, rather save my money to buy a figure with an amazing sculpt and articulation instead of buying one (or multiple) figures that don't quite do it for me, or look great and... don't move.

Don't get me wrong, some Marmits and Gigabrains look fantastic, but getting to display some of my favorite monsters killing each other looking exactly like they did in their movie? Hubba hubba!

Exactly.

Thought I explained sufficiently. I made the distinction because Bandai is simply too large and diverse, catering to both the kids and the adults with two very different lines. Also, please quit with the " hypnotized" crap. You honestly need to get over it. No one is hypnotized. Some people are just looking for different things in their action figures that you are. Deal.

@Jomei- Yeah, I would've voted for Marmit if the Tamashii stuff didn't exist. Marmit just seems to have a lot more going for it than Bandai, both in style and selection.

Huh?... Oh.

One person on a different forum is spewing uncontrollable, unhealthy love for this line... Must be everyone!

So the most obvious way to deal with this is to seperate Bandai into "a line that's six months old and three figures deep" and "everything else". Yes, that makes perfect sense.

@Jomei- Yeah, I would've voted for Marmit if the Tamashii stuff didn't exist. Marmit just seems to have a lot more going for it than Bandai, both in style and selection.

Yeah, too bad it's a shame Marmit doesn't have 23336666 points of articulation.

Different people have different tastes.

I'd vote, but I don't have much other than Bandai's. :-(
