Released worldwide? I don't think that's really the right term when it was released directly to video everywhere else except Japan, where I'm pretty sure it bombed anyway.

Your're right. Here in Germany the film was released nothing earlier than 2006 and got little to no marketing. It just popped up in stores. It has bad dubbing. It never was in TV. So I believe nobody but hardcore fans even know about Megaguirus and only a percentage of them would buy an expensive figure of it. Even the vinyl figure was said being a bad seller back the day and was sitting on the store shelves for long. However, if BANDAI may ever decide to risk an S.H.MonsterArts Megaguirus, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. It's still possible, but very unlikely. That's for sure.

You know what would be really neat?

When 2014 ( Godzillas 60th Anniversary) comes around S.H Monsterarts could make a Godzilla 54 for the occasion. Its wishful thinking but at the same time it would be perfect.

That's a good idea, GIGAN05! Maybe the new Godzilla movie would be out by then too!

With Bandai re-releasing Godzilla in the next few months I wonder if there'll be any changes, like an improvement in manufacturing so you get looser joints and better painted eyes? Probably not but just a thought, the first Ultra-act Ultraman was improved slightly on it's initial re-release (I'm not talking about the re-sculpt that's out in a few months).

It isn't a re-release per se, just a second wave. Like, if you look at this in trading card terms, the breath effect would be the first edition, and the one coming out in a few months would be the unlimited edition.

Just going by what the Tamashii website said, I think CD Japan list it as a re-release as well.

A re release? Sure. However, that simply means that the figure is being released again.. minus its sole accessory. The eye paint might be fixed, but major changes like the articulation will not be touched.

Yeah I understand that I was just speculating if the may tweek it a bit, like Ultraman. When he was first released he had a waist seperation problem but by the time I got him that was fixed. Anywho I don't expect any major changes I was just musing out loud.

Found this scan of the S.H Monsterarts King Ghidorah from a Japanese hobby magazine while surfing the web :).

Looks like the joints on the tails are king of obvious.

Articulated tails (and long necks) are just so tough to pull off. It's either the old wire-and-rubber bendy approach, or the chain-joint thing like Ghidorah here. I wish they could disguise the mechanics better, but this way gives us vastly improved posability. I think I can overlook the segments for that.

Heck, this feature is probably going to make King Ghidorah the only MonsterArts figure I purchase.

I'd much rather the MA design for tails and necks than the Revoltech. Them wires SNAAAAAAPPPPP....

I really could care less about the exposure of the joints. Mainly due to the fact I don't intend displaying King Ghidorah's backside. However, for well articulated figures such as the MonsterArts, I think they do a good job in hiding the joints - unlike most of Kaiyodo's Revoltech figures.

King Ghidorah is indeed a fantastic looking figure that appears to have a great range of motion. I am curious if a flying pose could be achieved... most likely, but I'll need to build some sort of contraption in order to display it as such - I don't think mere Tamashii Stands can handle KG's size and weight.

I recall earlier in the thread someone had shown a wooden stand built for Godzilla's swimming pose. I imagine something similar would be necessary to hold KG.
Or you could use 50 of the Tamashii stands with the claw endings.

Or I can utilize fishing line to hang KG in flying form. I'll just need to attach some to the top of the shelf with tape or some kind of adhesive, then tie the fishing line around the torso, and the base of the tail (and perhaps other necessary places in order to get it balanced). I tried it years ago with some of my Mothra figures, and I recall it working quite well. Hopefully it can hold KG.

Duct tape. Duct tape everything.
Also I hope you've got strong enough fishing line. These things aren't exactly light, and KG's going to take the weight crown for quite a bit into the future.

Duct Tape it shall be! I'll be hanging it from numerous lines, so the weight should be distributed among each line that I use.

The flying pose will merely be for photographic purposes. I don't intend to keep him like that forever. I'll probably test this technique out first with MechaGodzilla's flying pose.

Damn, all this talk just makes me want KG more and more!
