I've been on a zombie kick lately so what are some good zombie movies? What do you recommend, what do you think people should stay away from? Discuss!

These are not zombies.

The original Night of the Living Dead movie for the win. Zombies in movies now these days should not even be called zombies. We need the original zombies from the dead again for once instead that outbreak virus bull shit that we have seen since 2002.

Well technically they're not. But most people would label them as such.

Also please refrain from chucking boulders at me. I don't want to receive pain :P

Theoretically, the result is still the same. Mindless drones attacking all around them. Reanimated corpses were popularized by NotLD, but reinvention should be allowed. I included Rec and Rec 2, even though the people in those movies were posessed.

I'd only exclude 28 Days Later because it sucked ass. Never saw Weeks, but if it was nearly as bad, then boot it out too.

I like all of the Return of the Living Dead films. Just because theyre comedies and dont take themselves too seriously. Especially the third one.

I like this thread. Romero's trilogy is a classic. Aside from that, I like Shaun of the Dead, Zombi 2, City of the Living Dead, Zombi Holocaust, Hell of the Living Dead and Zombi 3. I do need to watch some of the older, voodu oriented films. It seems Zombi 2 uses that as a basis, rather than Romero's films.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

In my opinion, the best zombie films have to be...

White Zombie

I Walked With A Zombie

Night of the Living Dead

Dawn of the Dead

Zombie

City of the Living Dead

Day of the Dead

Return of the Living Dead

Re-Animator (not sure if this one counts, but it's got some crazy SPFX)

Night of the Creeps

Night of the Living Dead (the 90's one. Ignore the sucky 3D one)

Dead Alive/Braindead

Shaun of the Dead

Zombie Land

Shaun of the Dead
Land of the Dead
Day of the Dead
Pontypool
Return of the Living Dead
Dead Alive
Dawn of the Dead
Fido

Not technically a zombie movie, but the climax of Horror Express has a badass Christopher Lee battling an army of undead controlled by a Thing-esque alien, and that's just delightful.

^ Absolutely. Testament to a very well made movie when you just have voices over the radio describing what they're seeing, and that alone is absoutely gripping and nothing short of terrifying.

I don't have the insane amount of love for it that some do, but unlike so many other recent remakes that are just soulless carbon copies of the films they're based on, if you took away the original Dawn it still stands on it's own as a fairly well made and fun movie. Plus, zombie baby! Hard not to love a zombie baby.

Zombie baby sucked ass. It was one of the most pitiful attempts at being "edgy" I've ever seen.

Overall the Dawn remake was boring and mediocre. There was pretty much nothing about it I could get into, except a drinking game of all the slow mo shots of bullet shells hitting the floor. Other than that it's just a painless timewaster/waste of time (one or the other).

In light of people 28 days/weeks later, (sigh of disgust). There were parts I enjoyed and parts that made me facepalm. Plus they're not really zombie movies ;)
