Could someone please - as simply and as accurately as possible - explain to me what Chris, Matt and Simon are trying to accomplish here? Is this just an unlicensed fan-game that the three are going to attempt to put together using fan funds and a developer. Or are they somehow seriously planning this from the ground up, using fan money to fund it and then are going to find a publisher and attempt to get the license from Toho?
If it's the latter, do they really think this is going to happen? And if it's the former, I really don't see the big deal. It's a fan game, nothing more. A licensed title with Toho-approval is something to be excited about. Fan art. Fan fiction. Fan games. In the end none of it is official, so I really don't see why it's a big deal.
Either way, what it's done to the forum is eye opening. Do people really NEED a new Godzilla video game this bad? All this "idea" really seems to be doing is giving members an outlet for all their random, hypothetical "what if" ideas that in the past have all been combined to the "New Toho Game Idea" thread, only now there are far too many threads related to this "game" to count at this point.
