Did this once when I was like 19 or so..and yes, shit was scary as hell. I ended up laying down, and freaked out for a minute, because I literally felt like I was melding with the wall next to me. "No sir, I don't like it!".

I always planned to try shrooms, but just never got around to it. That's really the only other thing I would ever consider trying.

Yeah, it either skreeonk you up completely or it does nothing. It would skreeonk me up horribly, and there are some medical issues I have with synthetic cannabis, so I would never use it again.

Gigan X3 wrote:Hahaha! Didn't really know that about salvia, I always have a lot in here because it smells good.

Salvia is a large genus of plants. Salvia divinorum is the specific species of plant that can be used as a hallucinogenic drug. I would recommend that you check the species of plant you have before assuming that they're Salvia divinorum.

Salvia divonurum isn't a party drug. I think it is better to use it for spiritual reasons and not recreational.

As for Shrooms, they can be scary too. If you do take Shrooms, I recommend you take it with people you like, in an environment you are comfortable in, and that you are mentally happy. Any deviation from the things I have listed could result in a bad trip.

It is divinorum, and I have free access to it because, like you said, it is used for spiritual reasons, I used to partake in aztec dances that used this kind of salvia, I never knew you could smoke this but don't really plan to either, it's good to know that it's valuable beyond its pleasant odor though.

Oh hey, it's this thread!

I haven't taken a hit in years, but that doesn't mean I haven't thought about it.

I smoked a lot of weed while I was in Florida these past few months.

But honestly I'm more of a drinker.

I'd rather be drunk and angry than high and stupid.

...Why? Anger isn't good. And being high doesn't necessarily make you stupid. Haven't you seen Cabin in the Woods? Shit, that movie in itself is enough reason to bump this thread.

Not to get too off topic, but is it really that great? I'm a huge EVIL DEAD fan, and after seeing the ads, I was just kind of turned off by the whole thing.

And...yeah, "I'd rather be drunk and angry" is definitely not a good sign. Since when does getting high=being stupid? I'm assuming you've never done school work while under the influence? Sometimes it actually helps.

In my opinion, it isn't as inventive or frightening as the original Evil Dead. ED succeeds because it hacked a bloody new identity from sources we had never associated with the genre. Cabin, on the other hand, seems to be about doing that. If I had perhaps seen fewer genre films, been more of a blank-slate viewer, I think it might've blown my mind. But in the end, it had too much of ED and countless other films in its DNA, too much history to pick apart, homage, and play with, to have that effect. I loved Cabin as condensed analysis of the philosophy of horror, and a great benchmark in genre history. It is a fun and exciting consideration of where the genre has been, and where it stands in the early 21st century. However...it never horrified me. Never even made me feel unsettled. It was like kicking back and watching a humorous-yet-insightful documentary.

Don't get me wrong, though. Taken as such a deconstructive exercise, I would definitely call it a masterpiece.

But...*ahem*...making Evil Dead eat its shit? Hardly.

I'm a big Whodon fan, but I haven't checked Cabin out because the trailers made it look kind of like ass.

Plus it was directed by the writer of Cloverfield. That just makes me want to smack the movie itself.

I think you're narrowing your perspective a bit, the film isn't solely a deconstructive exercise, but also a complex statement about humanity in general and humanity's relationship with movies. It goes beyond breaking genre cliche's. It has far more significance and ambition then Evil Dead, which was basically the exact kind of movie Cabin was ripping apart. And Evil Dead wasn't really a game changer in anyway, to didn't revolutionize anything. It wasn't the first horror/comedy it didn't take many risks. Evil Dead was simply a really fun horror movie that's funny and plays by the rules. Cabin takes those rules and burns them with the most out there "what-if" I've ever seen and completely blows genre conventions out of the water. And what in Evil Dead is so horrifying? I was never horrified during the entirety of the Evil Dead trilogy because none of the ideas were very horrifying. They were all taken to such an extreme it became comical, which was the point. It's all very two-dimensional. However, in Cabin, there's a scene, spoilers ahead, where all the people in the under ground complex are having a party and socializing while on big screen in the background this poor girl is fighting for her life and suffering to an extreme extent. No one cares. It's a chilling statement about humanity and is far deeper than anything attempted in Evil Dead.

I feel sorry for people not seeing the movie base don the misleading trailers, because that's the point. The trailers are trying to mislead you.

Wait, it's the point for a trailer to make a movie look like shit?

Maybe I misjudged the Love Guru, then.
