Yes next month, go to the topic that Simon metioned before in this thread. :g2k:

Got it. IGNORE ME

Though it sounds like the beta will be available prior to the tentative March '13 launch.

Pushing a building onto another monster sounds awesome, but it practice it was basically impossible when monsters can jump half a mile in 1 second. If we slowed down the monsters a good deal, then we could try things like that - but everyone seems pretty addicted to speed, so I doubt we'll see that.

Personally, I'm actually not that big a fan of speed. I always used the slowest monster setting on GU, and it still felt too fast-paced for giant city-crushing juggernauts.

This, so much this. If speed is what has to be sacrificed for more, and more meaningful building interactions, sign me up! These are gigantic monsters, it just makes sense for them to move a little slower.

No. The game will hopefully be RELEASED March of next year. Contributors will be getting in-progress builds as soon as September of this year.

The Boxing Arena (a flat, featureless environment) is at the top of my list - because it's trivial to create.

This game already has enough threads going for it. Stop making new threads just to ask a question that could easily go in one of them.

So if your going to have grapples, we should think of some, for Titanosaurus, he should do what he did in the movie, bite him to pick him up, then beat him down with punches! :g2k:

What are the specs on your PC?

Not to hate on the Boxing Ring, but could we use something new, like an MMA octagon?

Simon, when you say, contributers will be getting in game builds around september, does that mean there will be previews around september, or beta is around september? :g2k:

Thank you.

Boxing Ring better be in. I remember my little cousin used to stage actual WWE type tournaments with the local kids.

Re: "Godzilla Game" Title Ideas

Postby Oasis_S » Mon Apr 16, 2012 3:49 pm

I know this is "for the fans" and all, but is everyone else going to know what a "kaiju" is? Seems to me like that's not something you'd want in a title. Though I guess being an unusual word would gain a few curious looks.

I'm trying to think of something with "gather." It alludes to the gathering of monsters, but also the "collecting" aspect of the planned multiple releases. As you gather various licensed and original monsters by buying the games, you can gather them together and fight. And, y'know, gather your friends online to fight...

Godzilla Gathering (...Battle)? Kaiju ...Convergence?

Oh I know.

I think we should be given some type of "homework". What I mean by this is have us play GDAMM, STE, G:U and have whatever questions you are looking for to get some helpful information on what to keep/bring back. For some of us it might have been a while since we've played any of them.

I know this is probably more for when the project gets going. But maybe to put some structure to new conversation.

Example

1)Attacks
Do a few attacks blah blah. Please include what you thought about speed/animation.

2) Movement
Run and Jump, what did you think about the animation or landing/takeoff.

I'm not sure, seems like this information could be useful if people post it intelligently and in some sort of structured way, instead of saying "i dont like how G2K was so fast he was never fast why was he so fast" (meant this to sound like a normal complaint you would see on here) and then having 10 follow up posts on that one point.

I don't think we need any especially directed conversation at this point.

Here's what will happen - assuming we reach our funding goal, we have a set of forums almost ready to go live - which will become the main hub for discussion surrounding the game. I will set out sections to discuss each active area within the game - monsters, environments, hud, story, schedule, weapons, etc. Everyone who donates at least $5 will get a login to join those forums.

So discussion here can be free-wheeling and wild!
