1998, I believe. Above are the variants of the first 6" Heisei Godzillas released by Bandai in 1998. They're not too hard to keep track of until you get into the store variants and event exclusives that have been released outside of the 'theater exclusives'. The 'TE's were released in correlation with the films. Other figures that are very similar in nature were released at events/cons/dealers/stores as exclusive promos and aren't tied to a specific film release (in most cases).

Thats where they begin in my recollection, anyway. I do know that Bandai also did an early theater exclusive of Rainbow Mothra, the only theater exclusive released for the Mothra Trilogy. As far as what was the very first clear exclusive, though, I'm honestly not sure.

Nope, the theater exclusive Meltdown Godzilla in 1995 was the first, followed by the Godzilla Forever Meltdown version in 1996.

This photo is missing the 2005 Memorial Box Heisei Godzilla and the Memorial Box and Dream Project Box Meltdown Godzillas.

When it comes to Godzilla, again it's the 1995 TE Meltdown.

Theater exclusives and Clear figures used to always turn me off. I would think to myself "why would anyone want a Godzilla figure with wrong colors?"

But in recent years I've come realize what the appeal is. They're just neat looking.

Unfortunately, I've never owned one or even see one in person. Back in 2005 (2006, maybe), when GFW was still the new hotness, I tried ordering the theater exclusive Godzilla '04. But the website, Toys N' Joys Online, was sold out, despite having it so you could still buy and pay for one. =/

We went through the process of getting our money back, and swore off TNJ while we were at it. I never got my exclusive Godzilla '04, but, thems the breaks. Maybe someday I will. :)

And thats my quirky little story for ya.

Boom. Confirmation. Thanks as always, Mike! Like I said, my early-bandai history is foggy. I got into the Bandai business late.

I believe you are referring to the Gigabrain. That's the MMH.

Oh cool. I thought you were referring to the Gigabrain because of your enthusiasm over a similar color variant leunames put up in the Gb thread.
