And I feel very sorry for those people.

You just dont find it funny. This is very similiar to Paul (2011) with the CGI talking alien voiced by Seth Rogan. THAT was funny and it made oodles of money.

No, the concept behind Paul is kinda funny. This isn't funny. Paul works for two reasons. One is the casting of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who are always funny together. The other is that, oddly, the concept seems kinda realistic. I can believe an alien coming to our planet, watching lots of television, and thinking that it's okay to be foul-mouthed and incredibly vulgar. He's studied our culture to the best of his ability, and he's just going off of what he's learned. That's one of the things that made that movie funny.

This is not the case with this movie.

Oh Jesus, GxG... YOU dont find Seth McFarlane funny. Doesnt mean it's not funny, or other people will think it's funny. Get over it.

First off, I never said that my opinion was the "correct" one. All I said was that I don't find Seth McFarlane funny, and that I feel sorry for those who do find his work funny. If you think that there's any hidden context to that statement, like a sense of superiority or that I'm putting down anyone else who disagrees with me, then you're sadly mistaken. I always welcome other opinions, because everyone has the right to say them. If you like Seth McFarlane's comedy, then good for you, and I mean that. I'm going to disagree with you on his comedy, but I'm not going to put down your opinion just because it differs from my own.

Second, there is no such thing as a "correct opinion". Opinions aren't right or wrong. Especially when it comes to something like this. This is no "correct" opinion for Seth McFarlane. There is a majority opinion, but that isn't the "correct opinion".

When did this turn into discussion over one's opinion? If he doesn't like Seth McFarlene's work, he doesn't have to. I personally don't like Seth's shows. Having a swearing teddy bear film isn't gonna work.

I would seriously laugh if a mother thought this was a kid's film without seeing any kind of trailer and took her kid to watch it, though.

Brit borrowed it like 4 months ago and she refuses to give it back. She adores the movie.

We weren't arguing over the movie itself so much as the movie's director's general style and work.

Well bottom line is, this film is gonna suck, just like any other work Seth may make. Not trying to be mean, but it's the truth.

I never said that.

What I meant by that was that there is so much better comedy out there that they could be watching, yet they chose this crap. They could be watching Community, or How I Met Your Mother, or Big Bang Theory, or the Daily Show/Colbert Report, or reruns of shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway? or Mystery Science Theater 3000. Hell, even America's Funniest Home Videos is more desirable than freakin' Family Guy. At least AFV doesn't make you disturbed, confused or enraged (or all three).

These are just some examples of much better comedy shows that people could be investing their time in, instead of a television show that fills over half of an episode with this:

Which is why I said "implying."

Perfect example of speaking as if one's opinion is fact.

Dont presume to speak for anybody, GXG. YOU find FG unfunny, so instead of constantly badgering people who do find it funny, why dont you go watch something YOU find funny and let us enjoy our "crap."

Not sure why you care anyway.

Gosh that's an opinion. Apparently not everyone agrees with you.

GotengoXGodzilla wrote:At least AFV doesn't make you disturbed, confused or enraged (or all three).

Speak for yourself. I honestly don't understand why you say these things like everyone feels this way. Get off yer goddamn high horse. I happen to find Macfarlane's stuff to be obnoxious.. Not nearly as obnoxious as your ranting, though.

Well then don't imply anything. Because then you're just taking my words as something entirely different than what I was saying. Seriously, why even do that, other than to be a jerk?

Perfect example of speaking as if one's opinion is fact.

Where in that statement did it look like I was using my opinion as a fact? All of that was my own opinion. I believe that all the shows I stated were, in my opinion, better than Family Guy. And, also in my opinion, I feel sorry for people who watch Family Guy, when they could be watching much better comedy shows. This is all that I was saying with that statement, and as I pointed out, none of that I've said as a fact.

Dont presume to speak for anybody, GXG.

...I wasn't. I was only speaking for myself.

so instead of constantly badgering people who do find it funny

Whoa whoa whoa whoa, time out...

...Constantly? What the hell are you even talking about? I do not constantly badger people for finding the show funny. Hell, I don't badger people at all. You don't see me saying anything hateful or mean-spirited to people who say that they like the show. The only thing I've said is that I don't like Family Guy and that I feel sorry for those who find shows like that funny, because there are better shows out there that they could be watching. That's not badgering, and it certainly isn't constant.

Seriously, get your facts straight.

YOU find FG unfunny, so instead of constantly badgering people who do find it funny, why dont you go watch something YOU find funny and let us enjoy our "crap."

Except that I can say anything I want about this kind of thing. If I want to say Family Guy sucks, I can do that. This just happens to be a place where I can voice my opinion on something like this.

Also, this statement I made a while back would like to have a word with you:

I wrote:I always welcome other opinions, because everyone has the right to say them. If you like Seth McFarlane's comedy, then good for you, and I mean that. I'm going to disagree with you on his comedy, but I'm not going to put down your opinion just because it differs from my own.

I still stand by that statement.

Oh c'mon. You dont think that's funny?

Are you kidding? That was awful. Horrendous. Atrocious. I'd rather have my balls ripped of than listen to that shit again. The fact that that keeps going throughout more than half the episode makes it even worse. It would be alright if it happened once in the episode, but it happens more than six times over the course of the episode. It's like Seth McFarlane is saying, "You will laugh at this! If you didn't find it funny the first time, maybe you'll find it funny the eighteenth time!"

That wasn't funny the first time, nor was it funny when the episode continued to milk that gag.
