Well Kiryu only Godzillaed out twice, and never mid-battle. Kiryu does tend to go offline quite a bit, and his armor was dented by Shirasagi fire. So, he's quite fragile compared to the other mechs.

I don't mind the fragility of his armor, but the whole 'running out of battery power' and pilots either passing out or completely losing control of the metal dragon, I would begin to question Kiryu's effectiveness. At least he can deliver some decent attack damage during the initial portion of a battle...now if only we could find a way to make sure its pilots and its battery reserves do not foil the fight.

It doesn't really matter how fragile people imagine he is. You see., at one point during the film Godzilla trips Kiryu with his tail, and the levy falls toward him. Godzilla then lets out an Atomic blast that is powerful enough lto reverse the cyborgs falling momentum and knock it backward. Kiryu's head, however, takes only cosmetic damage. That blow would've decapitated a fragile mech.

The fragility debate notwithstanding, something still needs to be done with the vices concerning the pilots and the power reserves.

I don't recall power reserves being such a problem in Tokyo SOS. As for pilots... well lets face it ... the Heisei MG 's crew should've been knocked around more. It was less realistic.

I really do like Kiryu. I'd like to see a more destructive one, though.

Cool? He's down-right sexy!
Really nice design and story, almost like a homage to the Showa Mechagodzilla (With the bland of hand-to-hand and weapons I mean.).

I've said before that you could do a cool television show about Kiryu. Set it up like Ultraman, but when the monster of the week shows up, our heroic JXSDF squad hops into MechaG to do battle with it.

I've thought that too, a three-part miniseries would work. After the events of GXMG, Mechagodzilla does battle with Anguirus. In the second episode it fights Rodan an is badly damaged. In the third and final one, Mechagodzilla is getting repaired and Godzilla does battle with the Kamoebas.

Kiryu is an... interesting monster.

It seems most people either love him, or don't care for him.

I think he's a cool monster, but he's not one of my favorites of the lot.

Kiryu is very, very cool. Not quite the powerhouse that the first two MGs were, but that's made up with Kiryu's agility, range of weapons and amazing design.

Kiryu is my second favorite look for Mechagodzilla(Showa being my favorite)and I like the SOS version more.

All I have to say is that since every Mechagodzilla has some super powerful cannon built in it's chest/stomach the next Mechagodzilla better have a freaken Rail Gun as it's cannon.
