Want something refreshing in horror? Made by competent and talented people? Well this looks to be your film.

The involvement of Goddard and Whedon makes me pretty happy. The plot looks original and exciting, and reportedly is pretty funny as well, even if that's not that played up in the trailer. Its also got Chris Hemsworth, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.

Huh. Looks different, that's for sure. I like that it seems to be purposely mixing thing up. I'm not a big fan of pure horror, but this does look promising.

So am I the only one who noticed that the cabin looks like the one from the Evil Dead films?

No. Why would you think you were the only one? It was kind of obvious.

Looks great actually, i honestly have no idea what it's about but i am really interested in seeing it though. I also love how they put ''Marilyn Manson's - I put a spell on you''' cover in the trailer. Fit's perfectly.

Bump

I'm actually really excited to see this on April 13th. Early reviews are fantastic. I love horror-comedies and some reviewers are saying this is the best one since Evil Dead 2.

Here's the Rotten Tomatoes rating:

I'm definitely looking forward to it, but goddamn do I wish I hadn't seen that trailer. I miss the good old days where previews would give you an idea as to what something's about without throwing in as many spoileriffic images as possible.

Agreed. It's a cool trailer but, shows way too many "spoileriffic images". I'm trying to forget about the trailer before the film comes out. ;)

I remember I saw the trailer for this movie when I saw The Grey and the movie does interesting. Slashers died out in the mid 00's when movies like Saw came out. Good to see a original slasher movie again for the first time in over a decade.

It's not really supposed to be a slasher from what I've heard. I've heard it's a horror-comedy like Evil Dead 2 and the reviews have said it is very original and funny.

Are you guys kidding? I have no idea what this thing is about. They throw all that crap at you, yeah, but good luck tying it all together.

Between curiosity and the surprisingly good reviews, SOOOOO seeing this.

Just saw this. BEST HORROR MOVIE IN YEARS! Funny, smart, scary, and creative! It pretty much destroys all horror movie cliches. Don't let anyone spoil it for you!

Ok now I really want to see this. Out of curiosity from a Evil Dead fan, are there any other references to the trilogy beyond the cellar door and usual cabin kids.

I wanted to like it but the way it tries to be clever came off as really annoying to me. Plus all the bad CG.

There are a LOT of references to The Evil Dead as well as countless other horror films but, to tell you them would be spoiling the movie.
