Despite the fact that I can't stand most country music, I've recently confessed to myself that I really enjoy Johnny Cash. There's always an exception. So I'd figure why not start a thread. Anyone else here love him too?

He was a talented musician. I don't like Country, but Johnny Cash did it right.

Strangely, I like Johnny Cash. Maybe because he's olden country (olden-ish...) and the stuff that comes out today is straight out of the meat grinder. It's so pleasant and the only thing that beats Ring of Fore has to be On the Road Again (Willie Nelson, Live in 2005)

Cash is the best Country star ever in my book. Many of his songs are pure poetry, personal favorite is Hung My Head.

Love Cash, but you do know that Hurt is a Nine Inch Nails cover, right?

It doesn't matter, though, because he completely owned it. Even Trent Reznor acknowledged that.

My personal favorite is Cocaine Blues.

Gotta love Cash. I don't even like country. I also share a birthday with the guy.

I've loved the man in black since I was little, as did my dad before me. (He grew up when Cash got popular) He was before country was about how many shotguns a redneck could fit in his pick-up to impress some slut. He sang from the heart, now matter how dark it got.
