I like the GMK suit quite abit too. But it is quite strange to despise the Heisei suit yet treat the gMK suit as the holy grail of modern G suits when they are essentially the same.

Their proportions in almost every respect are drastically different.

His thighs are around the same size as the early 90s Godzilla, his spines are of a similar size to Heisei Godzillqa (aka not much different in height across the 3 rows), he's extremely bulky, and his arms are also the same size as Heisei G. The only pretty gross difference is head size.

GMK Goji has large calves and the way he holds himself is completely different. Heisei Godzilla's torso is either awkwardly thick or has an engorged chest, while GMK Godzilla is practically the opposite with a sunken chest and a larger midsection. The biceps on the Heisei Godzilla are also longer, almost as long as the forearms infact.

GMK Godzilla, physically, is a design with alot more gravity and grounding about it and that's aided by its design; it's bottom heavy and tapers up, while being hunched over. It looks like a creature effected by gravity. It's why I enjoy it so much, personally.

There are similarities in proportions. However, there are other differences as well. Please compare these images representing Shodai-Goji, King-Goji, Mosu-Goji, Moge-Goji, and Sokogecki-Goji. If you look at the musculature and skin texture (and those big eyebrows), Sokogecki bears a closer resemblance to the Showa suits. His spines also are shaped very similarly to Shodai-Goji's, but larger.

While from a distance the GMK and Heisei Godzilla designs are quite similar, I think the GMK Godzilla has a very classic "dinosaur/T.rex" look to him, with the long neck, blocky shape of the head, dusty, elephantine skin, and squared scales on his chest and stomach. That strong dinosaur/reptilian look really appeals to me in a way that the Heisei Godzilla doesn't. In fact I might say the GMK Godzilla is the most T.rex-ish looking of all the Godzilla suits - keeping in mind when I say T.rex I mean the early-to-mid-twentieth-century conception of the creature, like the one from the 1933 King Kong, not Jurassic Park.

I'm not going into exact details- but let's call a spade a spade- they are both fat. Which is what people hate about the Heisei suit. Its obvious X-plus slimmed GMkGodzilla down, so it isn;t really fair. Put the X-plus Heisei Godzila next to the lot and his prortions look very similar too.

GMK Godzilla is "fat". The '89 Godzilla is also fat. However, for the subsequent Heisei Godzillas they took a "fat" design, shoved an air-hose up its ass, and inflated it like a giant, reptilian flesh-balloon.

I think GMK looks miles better proportioned than the later-generation Heisei suits, and about even with the initial version.

C'mon, even a 10+ year break can make a star look fat. :P (Think, from '75 to '84/'89)

Now among the two kinds of suits (GMK or general Heisei), while I do prefer the more animalistic style to the Heisei, GMK really is more proportionate than the former. My guess that it might be Kaneko's take on the Heisei Godzilla (extremely heavy), but adding more T-Rex-pre-Jurassic-Park elements to him.

Since this series spans over 50 years it would've been cool to see Godzilla change or 'age' issue to issue.

Huh, that would be rather neat. I doubt it, but still would be cool. But we know our human protagonist is going to be aging, lol.

But the details are what differentiates them, otherwise the GMK design is just as perfect as the Heisei one. GMK is shaped completely differently; sunken chest, larger midsection (lower half). Heisei is thick all the way through with an engorged chest. Their torsos are almost the same but upside down. I despise, with a furious passion, how stupid the Heisei Goji's chest looks. It spoils the illusion of gravity and size and make him look top heavy.

On the other hand, the GMK Godzilla's shape just inherently has a sense of gravity and grounding and mass about it.

Can we get back to the comics instead of being extremely nerdy about the Godzilla suits?

If the series does follow a "through-the-decades" storyline. do you think it will go like this?
1st issue= 1954
2nd issue- Showa era: 60's
3rd issue- Showa era: 70's
4th issue: Heisei
5th issue: Millenium

What do you think?

It makes sense. I wouldn't doubt it at all if they did it that way. However, I do think that the general atmosphere is going to be changed, of course (no environmentally green superhero Godzilla, if you know what I mean) but I guess a tad bit of the old. :)

More Showa? That does seem more likely.

There's also the fact that GMK's Godzilla looks as if his head and hands are going to fall off at any moment.
