Thankfully, I copied the movies onto an external, so I can watch them on my laptop while I wait for my flight out.
At what part of the movie was the quote made? I want to watch the scene so I'll have a better understanding.

Thanks for the heads up. As soon as my shift is over, I'll watch the scene.

Now that I think about it, I do recall some bad dubbing during Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

-The line where Dr. Serizawa critiques Steve Martin's attempt at speaking Japanese.
-The scene where Ogata and Dr. Serizawa wrestle for the formula for the Oxygen Destroyer.

And I always wanted to ask this question: what was the deal with Emiko constantly crying? When Dr. Serizawa proclaimed that the Oxygen Destroyer will be deployed only once, Emiko breaks down into plastic sobs. Honestly, I would have expected tears of joy, but this sobbing appeared to be sorrowful mourning.

She realizes that her decision to reveal his secret has broken his heart and destroyed him professionally. She's watching him burn his lifes work piece by piece.

Kind of makes me wonder; what compelled him to invent the Oxygen Destroyer in the first place? Looking back, this has 'Deus Ex Machina' written all over it; the weapon was conveniently built (with no purpose other than to exterminate life at the atomic level)...as the specific bane to slay the beast. When Dr. Serizawa invented the weapon, no one had any way of knowing that Godzilla would rise from the depths of the sea and level Tokyo. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking this; the Oxygen Destroyer is an essential and integral plot device for the Godzilla mythos. But, from my understanding, Dr. Serizawa was a hero after finally disposing of Godzilla. I can understand Dr. Serizawa's sacrifice...to ensure the weapon is not recreated.

I was under the impression he discovered it by accident while studying oxygen. It adds a tragic level of irony; he's a man who was surrounded by death during his time in the war so returns from the war to study the source of all life (oxygen). Turns out, he uncovers only more death and destruction. It'd be a maddening and crushing realization.

Watching Godzilla: King of the Monsters, it made no mention about Dr. Serizawa being in the war. I'm assuming that this bit of info was covered in the original Gojira, and that the war in question is none other than World War II.

I think it's mentioned in Gojira? But the original intent was for the loss of his eye to have been from the War and early promotional images (and even on the posters), he has a very prominant scar through his eye-patch.

I own Gojira and I'm a good 87% sure it says something about Serisawa being in the war, I know for sure it states it in the commentary though.

Once I get settled down in my next location, I need to buy my own copy of Gojira...

''Terror of Mechagodzilla'' has a very bad dub. I tried showing some people it years back, and they couldn't finish it. Possibly due to it's bad cuts on the VHS.

They do. And it makes perfect sense seeing as the film is very anti war so it's only fitting that Serisawa and Godzilla are left overs from WWII.

No, I have, but this topic reads "The Worst English Dub in the Showa Series". I foolishly forgot to mention that I was referring to the cut version too. My mistake.

Godzilla's Revenge had some pretty bad dubs. Especially the talking Minya. Ugh!
