I finally rewatched this one today for the first time since '06-ish. Much better than I'd remembered. I went in with low expectations but determined to have fun and give the movie a fair chance, and it fully succeeded in keeping me entertained. I don't know that I'd call it critically good, but it's a damn kaiju movie, y'know? As long as one can have fun watching it, it's done its job. I'd say this is probably my favorite of the first three Millenium movies, now. G2K is definitely slower and duller than this, and GMK... maybe I've just seen it too many times, but it doesn't do much for me anymore.

Pros:

- Great score. It wasn't Ifukube, but it fit the movie and worked very well. The militaristic battle themes were especially enjoyable.

- Generally good pacing. It was a bit slow at times, but the action was pretty liberally sprinkled throughout and kept me from getting bored.

- Original, memorable action sequences. The opening rocket launcher attack, Godzilla vs. The Swarm, the energetic, Showa-esque main battle, Godzilla freaking fighting a black hole... lots of good stuff.

Cons:

- The same stuff everyone always complains about, but they weren't enough to hurt the movie much.

4/5. It ain't the next Gojira, but it succeeds very nicely as the dumb, campy kaiju action movie it's trying to be.

I was watching it to. It's not the best Millenium film, but I enjoy it. The music score fits well to the action, and Dimension Tide was a creative concept for a weapon.

So at the end of the film, did Godzilla get sucked into the black hole?
I can't remember

Either it pushed him underground, or he somehow escaped it and was teleported elsewhere, as seen after the credits.

One of my personal favorite Godzilla movies.
- My favorite Godzilla suit
- Megaguirus had a cool design and concept
- Megulana (probably didn't spell it right but you know the offspring?)
- I liked man-made Black Hole Dimension Tide
- The scenes where they attempted to use DT on Godzilla were cool and well done
- The final battle is fun and has some cool spots

This one was my favorite Millennium film until Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. Definitely original, which was the best part of GXM along with the epic action sequences and the start of using female leads as the top major human characters and yes, that goes for Megaguirus too.

I don't really like the movie that much. Megaguirus and the Black Whole bomb are pretty cool, but the plot seemed lacking. Also. the megunolon scene seemed a bit too violent/gory for a godzilla movie...
The godzilla body slam was awesome though.

Godzilla vs Megaguirus is a weak Godzilla film in terms of pretty much everything (except the design of Megaguiurs herself & the score), it drags on too long, the characters are just pretty meh and while some of the effects look good, some others are just bad. Godzilla's body splash on Megaguirus is just pure comedy.

Hell if MST3K were still on TV then GXM would have been a perfect fit for em

I liked the extra-spiky Godzilla, and megaguirus is a nice monster. The music sounds like Bolero, and it fits the dragonfly movement. The nerdy guy is quite silly, I think Kiriko is hot and I want a G-Grasper uniform.

Well, like many Godzilla films, it has its strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths-
-A pretty good score that is one of my favorites among the genre.
-A badass and awesome new Godzilla that really stands out to me.
-An interesting, sort-of-new kaiju.
-Unique and epic fights.

Weaknesses-
-Bland and/or average characters and plot.
-Unrealistic, (albeit cool) sci-fi.
-Unimpressive and disappointing special effects.

Overall, I think this movie is the definition of 'just above average', with some really good and really bad elements.
If you have nothing to lose, than you have nothing to fight for.

Over all, this is probably my least favourite of the Millennium series. By no means do i not like it somewhat, however. The concept of dimension tide, while admiringly unrealistic, was a cool and fresh take on an anti-kaiju weapon. The updated Meganulons were also pretty sweet, and Megaguirus herself makes it into my top ten favourite monster list. I kind of see this movie as the modern day Godzilla vs Megalon. Critically, it's not all that good, but it can still be a lot of fun.
