I think that Battra's roar was Rodan's roar pitched way low and perhaps slower

Antler does have a pretty epic roar. Funny thing is I just saw that episode for the first time yesterday.

No it's the other way around. *Trollface*
But it's quite obvious that Battra has Rodan's roar, the year difference is a dead give away.

Oh absolutely, back then I never did like Battra that much, that scene were Godzilla bites a chunk out of him, I would watch that scene like a million times. But, today I consider him as one of my favorites, just needs his own roar.

No, it actually is the exact same roar. I've never read anything about any differences or noticed personally any difference.

Battra's sounds slightly lower, but not significantly.

I think it would have been cooler if they attempted to do the exact same thing that they did to create Rodan's roar in the first place, but with a different instrument. Rodan's roar was created with an acoustic violin...so why not replicate the exact same method but with an electric violin, ran through a distortion pedal?

I watched Godzilla Vs. Mothra 2 weeks ago, and I heard no indication of Battra's roar being a modified version of Rodan's. They are the same PERIOD!!!

He went forward in time, and went all Pootis Spencer before eating Battra...in order to steal his roar.

I wonder...that roar or sound that Battra does when he turns from Larva to Imago...why they didnt use that
roar as a permanent roar instead of the "Copy Rodan" one?

That sound during the transformation is pretty distinct... although then the transformation sequence is personally my highlight moment of the film, as it's pretty unique and visually impressive. Such a sequence having a unique roar helps it stand out I feel. I would ideally want a unique sound for that... and of course a unique cry for Battra in general.

Anyway, Rodan became the "Varan" of the Heisei series, as Varan's roar got reused for two different monsters as well: Baragon and Gorosaurus.
