Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah is my favorite 90's film, and favorite Heisei film in general. It's a lot of fun, and that first fight between G and KG is worth the price of admission alone. I don't care for any of the others besides Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (which I still really enjoy). GvsM, GvsSG are two of the shittiest G films ever, and GvsD isn't much better IMO.

After reading the posts of Cimmerian Dragon & G2kmaster, there's not much for me to say. :-)

I, too, am tied between MECHAGODZILLA and DESTOROYAH. I'm a bit biased in favor of the former, though, because it has Rodan in it.

The votes seem to agree with our posts. G vs Destroyah is the most popular so far.

Sounds like you and I have very similar taste. I too find DESTOROYAH to be to lacking overall to consider it one of my favorites. I only really like that last 30 or so minutes. The rest is pretty disposable.

Destroyer, I don't know where you're getting the idea that the JSDF vs. Des sequence is "horrific". It's nothing of the sort. The scene rips of ALIENS, and does it very poorly at that. There is nothing about it that screams horror.

The only Godzilla films with horrific imagery are GODZILLA ('54), GODZILLA VS. HEDORAH, RETURN OF GODZILLA, and to an extent, GMK.

I never understand the hate that GVM gets? I remember when I discover forums like this and KH hated the film. I don't think it's a good movie, but I thought the fight scenes were good and the miniatures sets that they are well done as well. I remember that the the emergence of Mothra from its cocoon was nicely done and score for the film was pretty good too IMO.

The only good battle scene in VS. MOTHRA is Godzilla vs. Battra larva..and that lasts for about 30 seconds. The rest don't look very good at all, since the flying marionettes are so atrocious looking. The music is definitely the best thing about the film. One of the worst things about it is that stupid laser sound effect for Godzilla's ray. It's so awful. What the hell were they thinking?

Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II as well as Godzilla vs Destroyah are my favorite Godzilla films from the 90's. What they lacked in character devlopment they made up for with great scores & for the most part very well done effect scenes but GvsMG II wins for me because I do care about what happens to some of the characters and it wasn't quite too dull either

That's...not really a good enough reason to hate the film, especially considering that's just in the dubbed version.

The best '90s film, as a whole, would be Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II.

Let's be fair, these films really aren't that good. Godzilla and Mothra and Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla straight up suck. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, while having enjoyable monster battles, is really a mess at just about everything else. The story doesn't make much sense, the editing is all over the place, the acting is probably some of the worst of the series, and the effects are pretty bad. Though, like I said, the monster battles, especially the final one, are great to watch. It's just too bad that the first monster fight is chopped up so bad by the awful editing that it's hard to say anything good about it.

Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, IMO, is an incredibly boring and very forgettable film. Outside of the last 15 minutes, there's really nothing to the film. It's just build up to the last few minutes of the film, when it could have easily been so much more. The main reason that the film is so boring to me, is because of the characters. For the majority of the film, these people believe that Godzilla's death will cause the end of the world and kill everyone...yet they hardly seemed fazed by this news! They always go around the blankest expressions and non-caring attitudes that I see no reason to care for the end of their world. These people should be freaking out, yet they don't care at all about it. If they don't care, why should I care? The last 15 minutes are great, and have some of the best moments of the franchise, but that really doesn't save the film as a whole. In the end, the film is still really forgettable, and leaves me with a feeling that the film could have easily been something much more.

Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II certainly has problems, like a nearly non-existent story and bland one-dimensional characters. But one thing that GvsMG2 has over the other films is that it knows exactly what it wants to be and does it well: To be an entertaining popcorn flick with lots of action scenes that people will remember. The film knows that it's target audience and what they came for, and gives them exactly what they wanted. The action scenes are so much fun to watch, and they take up what feels like the majority of the film. This is the film that gives the most enjoyable experience out of the 90s Godzilla films, so I'll say that it's the best of the five.

I like how everyone feels the need to say "they all suck" It's absolutely true but seeing nearly every poster make a point to bring it up still amuses me.

I generally find Godzilla vs. Destoroyah to be a mostly boring film until the end. Same with Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla. Same with Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II. Godzilla vs. Mothra is hardly entertaining at all.

That leaves Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, which is easily the best of the post-Biollante Heisei series. Best effects work (the animatronic Godzilla head is STILL one of the best practical effects in the entire series), least number of unlikable characters, it's got a sense of campy charm (I'm looking at you, M-11). Plus, I still think MKG is one of Toho's coolest ideas ever.

All of this. The film likes to throw ideas at the audience like Godzilla vs. Biollante, albeit slightly less tactfully. It gives it a lot of dynamic energy that makes it interesting to watch. If only the rest of the nineties films could keep this level of punchiness. I always enjoy watching Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.

I enjoyed all the 90s films, though I would say Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla is weakest of the bunch. Probably my number one favorite of these films is Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2. I especially enjoy the part where Godzilla uses his Spiral Fire Ray on SuperMechagodzilla, that was just AWESOME.

Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. The thing that killed the 1954 Godzilla, in monster form, nice.

Destroyah was one of the strongest Godzilla foes.

I agree that not all the movies are strong, but even the weak ones have their positive points. G vs Mothra needs alot of help, but Battra was a good monster, and the sfx weren't bad.

G vs SpaceGodzilla is the weakest, but the fight was handled well.
