Cyborgs

Postby edgaguirus » Sun Apr 08, 2012 2:12 pm

Robots and cyborgs have palyed their roles in Godzilla films, as both hero, villian, or both. They are goofy and tragic, depending on the film.

Which Cyborg have you found the most interesting and/or entertaining?

Of course, as with so many folks, I'd say Katsura. Even as a small kid I recognized what a sad and tragic situation that was. Couldnt cope with the death of his little girl, so he 're-built' her. That in itself is pretty depraved and unfortunate, but coupled with the fact that he is being used as a jerk-off for nasty aliens makes it far WORSE. Poor Katsura. :(

Also, of course, M-11! Love the strong as well as the corny aspects of this character, and the fact that Toho was having FUN doing an Arnie impersonation. 8-)

Kiryu is my favorite Cyborg. Katsura is my favorite humanoid cyborg.

Isn't M-11 just an android, though? Or is the skin supposed to be Terminator-esque living tissue? Okay, I admit that's just nit-picking. ;)

Kiryu and if he counts, Cyber-Godzilla from Godzilla: The Series.

Gigan and M-11 rule over cyborgs on a double throne of awesome. Kiryu sits slightly below them, in a pretty sweet chair of cool.

Katsura was a great cyborg character. She feels and thinks like a human despite her mechanical interior, but also felt their cold influence with the Simians. It was a contest between which was stronger, and her human side won.

My favorites, though, are JJ and M11. They're goofy at times, but in a fun, heroic way.

Were the Xiliens robots or just controlled by machines? The ones in Final Wars were pretty much biomechanical but the originals were just skinny pale guys from what could be seen. I think one of them had bolts sticking out of him in one scene.
