I'm realizing that I'm probably allergic to small animals. I never really had any before, so I hadn't handled them much, but now whenever I hold a hamster/guinea pig/ferret at work or my rats at home, I break out in hives. I just got done having a walk around the house with my rats on my shoulders, and my neck is all red and bumpy and itches like crazy. Not that it's going to stop me from handling them or make me do it any less, it's just highly annoying especially since that's a big part of my job.

Also I was cleaning the glass in the ferret tank today and one of the little bastards latched onto my hand with his teeth and wouldn't let go. skreeonk ferrets. I love them as a species, but the ones we have at the store are assholes.

When you say 'store', do you mean a pet shop? ...Cause lord knows, animals in most pet shops have good reason to be hostile/fearful, sadly.

Could be allergies to dander, sure, but it could also be anything from the bedding that you are using to communal infections.

I'm alergic to cats and dogs. I couldn't give a shit about the dogs, but I LOVE cats, had them all through childhood. Unfortunately, I've become more and more sensitive over time, to the point that I had to leave my kitties behind with my parents when I moved into my house. I do visit them all the time, but I just can't take any fur floating around anymore.

I work at Petco. I know some stores are shitty when it comes to their animals, but ours is one of the best and our animals are usually very friendly, healthy and well-socialized. They're our main priority. A lot of people will villify Petco (and Petsmart, too) but I can tell you from experience that the company itself is great and that the mistreatment of animals and things like that are all at store level - it really depends on the managers. I've seen great Petcos/Petsmarts and bad ones. Luckily management at my store is absolutely awesome and the animals are everyone's first priority. We treat them like we would our own pets.

With the ferrets, it's actually a case of them not being properly socialized as babies. We get them when they're several months old, so at that point they're already beyond the point of no return, so to speak (not saying they can't be tamed, but we certainly don't have the time and resources to do it in-store). Marshall's (the company that supplies our ferrets) has been doing a really terrible job lately and every ferret we get is more wild than the last. They claim that their ferrets are all socialized and ready to go to new homes as soon as we get them in the store, but the things are pretty much feral. We've had most of the ferrets we've sold in the last few months returned.

I'm pretty sure it's an allergy to what they're carrying on their feet/nails since the hives form around the scratches. I read that wiping down the rat's feet to remove the traces of urine/dust/etc prior to letting them crawl on me might help, so I'll try that.

Hopefully my parents can let me install McAfee sometime.

Dude, don't get McAfee, trust me, I have it.
It is late on scans, and it finds the viruses way to late. My dad made me put it on my new laptop. On my netbook, I had AVG free, and out of all the anti-viruses I used, AVG is one of the best. McAfee is like buying an expensive car over... a Nissan Altima. Nissan Altima is a well-balanced car, like AVG. McAfee, is like paying for a super-expensive car that has all the same functions of the Nissan Altima, just you know, a different name.

McAfee is just overpriced and flashy.

Hope you do better with AVG than we did. Our old computer had it, and it slowed to a crawl whenever it was running. Recently I uninstalled it and slapped on Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Microsoft Security Essentials instead. It runs much faster now.
Little bugger really fought being uninstalled, too...

Also my day wasn't quite ruined, but since we got into the airport at 8:30 and didn't get home till 9:30, school tomorrow is going to suck.

I start a new Itunes account and when I plung in my Ipod that it erase 90% of my songs. I had over 150 songs and most of them are gone! I have no way to bring them back seeing my old PC from 2008-2011 died out last year and I have no other way to bring back my old history of songs!

Avast dude. Also, SUPER Anti-Spyware. Both are free.

It's a 1-2 punch. CCleaner is another good program for finishing things up after the other two.
