Mill Creek GAMERA 3 Replacements

Yesterdays mail rocked got my replacement disc, revoltech baragon ,and my tax returns.

Today I received a replacement for my replacement. This new disc has fixed subtitles for the main movie and for the behind-the-scenes footage. I didn't even request the new disc; they must be sending it out to everyone who got the version with kaiju-sized subtitles.

I didn't get one. So guess I'll be mailing another cover back in. It's nice they're going out of their way to fix things though. Hope their eventual Majin sets aren't like this though.

I'm curious about the video quality of the Blu-Rays. The main site's review says they're decent, but not great. Could someone give comparison shots between the ADV releases and the Blu-Rays?

Easily superior to those, but that's Blu-Ray for ya. Can't go wrong for the price.

It's taken from film prints of movies made in the 1990s. Being a budget company of a sort, they obviously can't afford the best transfers or restore the films much, but the quality is still fantastic. Well worth picking up, especially at the price they go for.

The only real downside to them is the low bitrate.

What is the 'bitrate'?

It's basically how much data is used to store the information for one second of audio or video. The higher the bitrate, the more information there is for each second and so the higher the quality.

Seriously, did anyone ever imagine that we'd be getting the Gamera Trilogy on Blu-Ray, with both audio tracks + extras, at this time, and at such a great price? Mill Creek had their problems, but they are stepping up to remedy them, and overall I'm thrilled with their releases. Can't wait for Daimajin, and I hope these sell well enough to ensure future Japanese fantasy film releases.

I'd like to see the Ultra Series in the hands of Shout Factory.

Mill Creek used brand-new high transfers, done by Kadokawa Pictures from the original film elements in the studio vaults.
