Godzilla help me for asking this question...

From my understanding, we would be playing with beta releases before the final product is released; similar to what we saw with Minecraft?

I think it'd be cool to have a donation incentive be the donator get to be a beta tester.

BTW, I stole your popcorn again. Hide it better next time.

Not very similar, no. Minecraft was a "public beta" for a long time - because they were still working on the game, but wanted feedback. This would be an ongoing "closed beta" -available just to those contributors who wanted it. It would probably be limited - like "this week, only these two characters are playable, because we want to know how well they matchup." I think the test server for an MMO might be a better point of reference.

Dammit Chris, give me back my popcorn!
Was there already the choice of the game system(s) that will be used or are we still talking about the game in general?

As far as I could tell, no decision has been made.

As for contributions; I'm ashamed to say I will not be able to donate anytime between now and August of this year. I have some important travel arrangements that require my financial focus. Mr. Strange, can you give a time scale as to when you will be accepting donations? I would like to see if I can make any sort of cut-off sometime after I return back to the states.

Ok then, list what you want for DLC!

Kinda like I said before. For each expansion pack:

4-5 monsters
Updates to moves for monsters that already exist
New neutral units (military, aliens, etc...)
New arenas
Perhaps new versions of old arenas
More

I feel like if the fans have a large say in it, put out what the fans would like.

Here's an idea I thought of. Perhaps others may have the same.

Customization. Whether it be making your own monster from a few pre-determined models, or even customizing Godzilla's move set based on a move pool. THAT would be something to see! This way, each person can create their own experience.

I'd love to see this level of city quality in the game (and you DO NOT need some high powered PC to do this) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZlCWLbw ... _embedded#!

This tech can be used for games btw.

Can we give this project a code name or something? Anything but "Godzilla: Online". Here's some options,

Godzilla: Great Decisive Battle
Godzilla Wars
Godzilla VS.
King of the Monsters
Godzilla: King of the Monsters

(We could basically make Godzilla Final Wars as it should of been but as a game instead of a movie)

And, some people think the game should be modern, why not give it a 70's feel? The plot could be crazy, and have a huge cast of monsters. Showa Godzilla could easily be the poster boy to this. I'd rather have Heisei Godzilla be the star though, just think, the game could take place after Destoroyah. If the game goes for a Showa feel, make it take place in the 1975-1999 gap. Just think of the possibilities! I think the game should be tied into one of the pre-existing Godzilla timelines.

I agree about the Showa era feel. It would be nice to see some classic Type 61s and Sabres again.

Oh HELL yes to a Showa-themed game. I touched on this a little bit in the Game Ideas thread, but I would love for this game to be a sort of "period piece" that takes place in the 60s or 70s. The Showa series was the craziest, most fun, and most colorful. If you're going to try and cram every single Toho monster into one (loose) continuity, Showa's the one best suited to it.

Can we still have some Heisei and Millennium monsters? It'd be cool to see Destroyah and Megaguirus and Monster X smashing shit in a 60's period city.

Remember that "the game" is generic, but each release will have a sub-title, which can be IP-specific. So while the game might be called "Big Monster fighting with your friends online and I like puppies" (BMfwyfoaIlp) the Godzilla release might be subtitled: "Godzilla brawling set in the 70's.) So the title of the first release would be

BMfwyfoaIlp:Gbsin70

Awesome.

I have a question about monster designs and cut monsters, would unused designs for the kaiju be considered to be put in the game or be put in as skins? And would the cut kaiju like Bagan, Red Moon and Gigamoth be plausible to be put in the game?

I say get raid of any silly sub title for the game and just call it "Godzilla" since it's simple and could lead to bigger sales. I think we should go back to normal cities then the cities that we saw in GU.

This is how I would run the character list:

1. Showa Godzilla
2. 1991-1994 Heisei Godzilla/Meltdown Godzilla
3. G2k/GXM Godzilla (While I don't want him, I think it's likely that he would show up seeing how popular he is in the US)
4. Rodan
5. Anguirus
6. Mothra Larva/Mothra
7. Baragon
8. Varan (He has a cult flowing and Mr. Strange does like him)
9. King Ghidorah
10. Ebirah (I would like to see how they could make him as a fighter)
11. Kumonga
12. Kamacuras
13. Minilla
14. Gorosaurus (He might work better as DLC, but I still would like to see him work for a possible game)
15. Hedorah
16. Gigan
17. Megalon
18. Jet Jaguar
19. Showa Mechagodzilla
20. Titanosaurus
21. Biollante
22. Mecha-King Ghidorah
23. Battra Larva/Battra Larva
24. Heisei Mechagodzilla
25. Heisei Moguera
26. SpaceGodzilla
27. Destoroyah
28. Orga
29. Megaguirus
30. Kiryu
31. Zilla (Well fans seem to want him)
32. Monster X

If Toho will allow skins this time then we could have Showa and Heisei skins for the characters like Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan for example then make them as their own characters.

"Godzilla Game" Story Ideas

Postby PopInPicsPresents » Fri Apr 06, 2012 10:56 am

For anyone wondering, yes this is made for Simon Strange's proposed Godzilla game. I'm gonna propose a few story ideas for the game, feel free to post your own!

Personally, I'd prefer if the game is made apart of a pre-existing Godzilla timeline.

Re: "Godzilla Game" Story Ideas

Nothing in depth so far but several ideas are

Story idea 1: A natural disaster on a grand scale has awakened several of the monsters and not in the best of moods. Think that meteor waking up Godzilla in Godzilla vs Mothra 92.

Story idea 2: A new form of energy has either been discovered or invented and while humanity wants to use it as a new, cleaner energy source thinking the lack of radiation would not attract monsters, only to learn that it does just as nuclear energy would and the monsters are willing to fight each other to gain more power.

Story idea 3: Several of the monsters have become too powerful so several of them have joined forces to kill the ones they feel threaten by, thus resulting in a huge monster war with humanity caught in the crossfire.

Story idea 4: It's mating season for kaiju. The problem? Most if not all are one of a kind, being the first or last of their kind so they're gonna vent their sexual frustration the only way they know how, by destroying cities and beating the crap out of each other.

On a side note, please don't let an alien invasion be the cause of monster war, space monsters can act of their free will, hell Gigan and King Ghidorah were still evil and fighting Godzilla and Anggy when the Space Hunter guys lost control of them. and if aliens invaders are gonna be used please just be a sub plot and not the main plot.

Re: "Godzilla Game" Story Ideas

Okay, now that someone has finally posted on this, now I can post my idea :) Sadly it involves aliens...

Idea #1:

Earth has remained peaceful since Godzilla destroyed the second Mechagodzilla and fought off Titanosaurus. The year is currently 2004. Seatopia and the surface world have become allies and become apart of the Earth Defense Force. (That would make for some interesting weapons designs.) The Xiliens return to Earth. (In Astro Monsters, the Xiliens escape into time, this subject is never touched upon in later films and would lead to some interesting possibilities.) The Xiliens make themselves know to Earth and threaten to destroy it with a arsenal of kaiju from different times. For example, Ghidorah, Gigan, Hedorah, Wargilgar, Spyler, Zandolla, and Jellar. The player can choose to play as the Xilien kaiju or Earth's kaiju. Instead of choosing a character to play as at the beginning of the start of "Story Mode" the player chooses from a selection of kaiju at the beginning of each level. During the middle of the game, there would be a level that opens up with a cinematic that involves Gigan and Megalon. In this game, Megalon is an Earth Defender. The cinematic is the whole level, Gigan begins to attack Megalon but Megalon doesn't fight back, it remembers Gigan as an allie (From Godzilla vs. Megalon). Gigan beats Megalon to the brink of death, then Godzilla comes in and scares off Gigan and helps up Megalon. Then the level ends. Each level shouldn't just be a battle either, there should be some tasks before hand that lead up to the battle. Other levels could just be a battle. Gigan should be reoccurring since he tends to retreat from battle, same more or less with Ghidorah. If the player loses a level, instead of playing it over or game over the story moves on and incorporates the lose or win and branches off from that. There would be quite a few possibilities and make for quite a bit of replayability. The last level should be the Xiliens unveiling Mechagodzilla 3, basically the same as the previous but Black like the Memorial Box figure. If you play as the Xiliens win, the Xiliens win then Godzilla dies and the Xiliens take over the Earth. If Godzilla wins then he destroys the Xilien ships and the world is saved. If playing as Godzilla and Godzilla loses, the player has a chance to redo the level but as a different kaiju, like Rodan, Anguirus or Gorosaurus.
