BigBaragon wrote:^ I disagree, Legion. You really just never KNOW what might turn up.....you shouldnt dismiss at least the possibility of unseen/dummy reel footage. Things like these turn up all the time: Looney Tunes snippets never intended to be seen by the public, entire hours of test shots and the like that are recently being added as 'dvd extras', etc..etc...
The fact is, you CANT know what might be out there; not unless you have been snooping through Banno's estate or poking through Honda's garbage bins - ?
I'm sure there's a ton of short snippets of footage that's probably out there somewhere or stuff like test footage or alternate takes or angles. The trailers give us glimpses of a ton of stuff that didn't make it into the finished films, as did the 1980's Unused Special Effects VHS tape.
HOWEVER, I personally don't believe there are entire effects SEQUENCES (that's the word Evan used) that were deleted from the older movies that have never turned up or have never been researched or spoken about. I consider a "deleted sequence" something along the lines of the maser tank battle that was totally removed from
Godzilla vs Space Godzilla, the famous soup eating scene from Disney's
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Jitterbug dance number from the
Wizard of Oz or of course the legendary spider pit sequence from the original 1933
King Kong.
I rather enjoy holding out hope. Like I said, 'stuff' turns up ALL the time. Old test shots/B reels are just scarce, like cryptids, but they are out there.
I, personally, don't feel it's worth wasting much time hoping for an entire "lost" effects sequence from an old Toho film to suddenly show up out of the blue. But that's just me.
