FREE Godzilla films!

Postby BigBaragon » Thu Apr 05, 2012 12:04 pm

This is probably common knowledge to many, so please disregard this thread if you are already 'in the know'.

My buddy just turned me on to a website called 'Crackle'. (dot com) They have roughly 10 Godzilla flicks, and they are FREE to watch. (So far as I KNOW, anyhow...havent yet been asked for a credit card number/personal info, though there ARE a fair amount of 'ads', but no worse than on network TV)

Just a heads-up for those that care to watch 'em. I actually havent yet seen several of the ones that they are offering. Oh, they are all NEWER films, so far as I can tell. (90s and up.)

Yeah crackle.com is pretty well known here, but no worries, I'm sure it will always be informative to someone. The shame is, they used to have nearly all the Sony distributedToho films on that site, but most of the Showa Godzilla films and the Mothra Trilogy are no longer there.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

Right on. They had more films at one time, eh? Thats a shame. You know, I havent seen any of the Mothra films. :(

Cool avatar, btw. I have OS in the bottom of a closet here somewhere.

I have that stuff on DVD, though if I'm not mistaken Crackle had the real International versions for the Heisei films.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

On Crackle, VS KING GHIDORAH and VS MECHAGODZILLA II are the fullscreen Tristar home video versions, VS MOTHRA is a widescreen copy of the Tristar version with the Toho logo retained and a different-looking font used for the subtitle under the main title, VS SPACEGODZILLA is a mostly textless copy of the international version, and VS DESTROYER is the intact widescreen international version. REBIRTH OF MOTHRA I and II were the widescreen Tristar versions and III was the widescreen international version.

It's a shame they removed the Showa films and the Mothra trilogy (the original MOTHRA is still there, though). I recently had a friend show interest in Godzilla, and aside from the original GOJIRA I gave him, he doesn't have any other films. However I've used Crackle to give him access to more of them. The only pain is the ads, which makes it a tad difficult for us to watch simultaneously live (with him using Crackle, me using a DVD).

The newer version of GODZILLA VS. MOTHRA listed above, with the Toho logo and new subtitled titlescreen, is the same one that's recently been on Starz or Encore, whichever was showing them. Sony needs to re-release these damn films!

At least Crackle still has the original Mothra. Well, at least they did the last time I checked.

Actually Sony never had DAM to begin with, so I definitely wouldn't expect it on Crackle.
