Good Evening Toho Kingdom and Members, I have good news for you today. It looks like the popular "The Mummy" series is getting a reboot with John Spaihts to write the script.
Here are the links on where i got my information.

What's your opinion on the unexpected reboot?
this will probably make it the second reboot to the series.

The Mummy 3 suck and I'm glad that they are doing a reboot instead. The 1999 remake of The Mummy was a good action film when you don't view it as a remake to the 1932 movie with Boris Karloff. I do wish that George Romero's Mummy remake was made instead because it sound like that it would have been a pretty awesome movie.

I hope it will go back to it's "dark" roots and not a comedy/horror/family film

A reboot of something that's already a reboot? Eh, I'll probably skip this one, but I wouldn't mind a dark 1930's period piece mummy film similar to the original Mummy if they're going to make a new one

The 1999 film was a remake, not a reboot. The first movie was a good popcorn film, the second movie was a decent sequel and the third movie was crap. I would like the third movie better if it was not so boring and took away those awful CG Yeti's.

Rebootception!

BTW:Do we really need another Mummy movie? I think not, but if is not going to be like the third or the second one, i'm fine with that.

Reboot, remake,re-imagining, it's all kind of the same in my eyes. I enjoyed the first as a simple little movie, but I really don't like the sequels. Damn CGI yetis....

As much ass as the third movie sucked, there is no need for a reboot.

Make goddamn Creature From the Black Lagoon already.

There's been off and on news of a Black Lagoon remake for over 20 years. Someone always says something, then it goes silent for several years.

I still wish Universal didn't cancel Guillermo del Toro's At The Mountains Of Madness. Still, we've got his Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to look forward to.

Not cancelled, but even Del Toro says it's unlikely it will be made. Perlman isn't optimistic either.

Good.

If this Mummy thing goes through I hope they stay away from the pseudo-Ray Harryhausen action/adventure fantasy bullcrap.

Oh and because it's topical

This. Not so soon, at any rate. In another decade or so, sure, but not now. That said, whenever this is made, it should be more of a dark, 'horror' kind of movie than the '99 one was. The '99 one was great, one of my top twenty-ish movies, but we don't need a remake of it. Let's see something different this time.

They should remake The Mummy. The original horror movie, not the fun action movie. Even if they do they probably won't get it right though.
